Had biopsy Tuesday..
I DONT want to wait till Monday. She said she didn't have the results yet but will by Monday? Today is the worst. Crying...........
I think I'd rather have the results over the phone..more private....shoot.
Too much Christmas cheer..this weekend and I'm not ready for it..

That's
not right.. your the patient!! Call them again and tell them that waiting for the weekend to worry is unacceptable escalate it up if you must!! We have all been there with the waiting for results thing.. You must be insistant!! They must know something or they wouldn't have said to come in Monday.. Maybe the Doc is gone and won't be in till Monday. I will say this.. I had biopsy and got results the very next day over the phone.. Mine was bad.. BUT since they say yours is still pending that may mean it's good news!!
Hopeful with you,
Calleen0 -
don't let this comsume your
don't let this comsume your whole weekend.... wondering about the results will just bring you down... think positive.. have a great weekend ... I was in the same boat but then my Dr called me on the fri and notified me that I do have cancer... wether I found out on the fri or had to wait till Monday it was always on my mind... just keep saying to yourself ... It will be fine.. I will be fine.. it is nothing.. try to do something nice for your self... best of luck ((((hugs))) keep us updated...Lisa0 -

I agree with Calleen, call them again and tell them that you have to have them as you are going nuts with the waiting. They can get them for you. They usually have them done within 24 hours. It is just the doctor's don't call for them. Please call again today!

pestering
My pestering for quicker results never got me them any sooner, IF I was going through the doctor. What worked for me was to ask, When is the soonest the results would be ready?", then to tell EVERYONE that I would personally pick them up. They are your records and you have the right to them; you don't have to wait for your doctor. I went to the imaging center, the hospital, and the breast center within the hospital to pick them up. For my MRI biopsy results and, weeks later, the surgery pathology reports, my surgeon was on vacation. (Do not get breast cancer in June in Arizona... nobody stays here.) Although she called me with the results, I had them in my hands hours, sometimes days, earlier.
However!!! The results are written in doctor jargonese so you need someone knowledgable to interpret them for you.
Take charge. It's frustrating, but at least you FEEL empowered, whether or not you actually are...0 -

Calling your doctor might get you quicker results if they are done. I got mine the very next day as my oncologist knows that we are all going insane waiting to hear. So, go ahead and call and I bet they will get on the ball and get them for you. You shouldn't have to wait the weekend. Let us know. But yes, call again today!

So frustrating!
I don't think most doctors really realize how difficult the waiting is. You almost feel like you can't breathe until you know. Even if it's bad news, at least you can then feel like you're moving forward with a plan of attack, but when you're waiting you just feel so helpless.
Try to distract yourself if you can. Call up someone and go out or just spend some time on the phone. Maybe go see a movie. I hear good things about Blind Side if you haven't seen it yet. When my hubby and I were waiting for my first chemo appointment on Wednesday we brought our DVD of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It was just what we needed to distract ourselves during the long wait. We could not stop laughing out loud in the waiting room, and we felt a bit guilty, but laughter is truly the best medicine.
I'll be thinking of you and hoping your results are good when you do finally get them!
Take care,

Pathology results
Hi Myshell,
I just had my biopsy last Thurs (12/10/09) and got the results the next day. My doctor called me late Friday with the dreaded news that I have insiti ductal carcinoma. I called the pathology dept the next day like exactly 24 hrs after the biospy and they of course won't give you the results but I just wanted to know if the report had been completed and they told me that it was finished and that they had sent the results to my Dr that a.m. I then called the dr office and told them I wanted to know my results and please have the dr call me before she leaves the office for the weekend. If she had not called me when she did I was going to call back about thirty min before her office closed and be more insistent because I knew the results were there and the office staff told me they were so I wasn't going to wait until Monday. So I suggest that you call the pathology dept and ask them if they have completed your biopsy report and if so have they sent the results to your dr. Waiting one day is difficult especially if the results are complete. I was given my bad news last Fri and I saw the surgeon on Monday, MRI tues, pre op on wed, and I had surgery Thurs. I have to wait until Tues for my surgery path report and it is anxiety provoking. I know where you are coming from I cried for the entire weekend after I found out and off and on since but the ladies on this site have been amazing. They have given me hope and encouragement and it has helped me be more positive. Good luck Myshell and I hope you find out good news today.0 -

Thank you all soo much. I just called them back and they say the report is done but it just needs to be signed off by radiologist. I told her I was going crazy and she said she is keeping her eye out for final report and will call me as soon as it comes in....so I'm even reading in to that...she could have said "it looks good but I just need the final word"..but she didn't. Ok now I'm going insane. Im going to walmart to find a george foreman grill for my future daughter in law. i hope i don't get the call in the small appliance department
Thanks for caring it is wonderful to be able to VENT to someone who GETS it.0 -

I agree with the others, well, most of them. LOL Don't wait until Monday. Call again and insist on knowing. Make them understand, be very pushy, but nice. Post and let us know.

It's 610 here and no phone call. i would have called the office around 430 but my daughter and I decided to see a movie instead. I still might hear tonight. Maybe not knowing for THIS weekend is the right thing. I'll try to concentrate on Christmas. I'll let you know if I hear anything. I appreciate you all sooo much. I have appt. at 2 on Monday.0 -

Now that you know that you don't know anything yet ... try to not focus on this all weekend. I know it's one of those things that is easier said than done but try to enjoy the weekend and stay positive ... it's better for your body for your mind to stay positive even when nothing is wrong.
One thing I've learned during my breast cancer visits is that the reason some tests take longer than others is they need to give the tissue (or whatever they are testing) time to do something (can't remember the term that was used) before they can actually test it. That made me feel better knowing it was a scientific reason for the wait in getting results and not the doctors schedule.0 -

Gloria, I'm sorry too that you're having to wait. We all hate that. Waiting to hear about my biopsies drove me crazy and it was a few days. Its hard to focus when this thing hangs over us, but just for a little while do something you enjoy. Hope the time passes quickly and you'll hear some good news. Keep us posted.0 -

Waiting is the WORST! It took 5 days to get my results because the test was done on a Thurs. and the results weren't in on Friday. It was actually a relief that I wouldn't get "the call" on the week end. My surgeon said she would call me so whenever the phone rang I paniced. On Monday while having lunch with a work fried, my surgeon called and asked if it was a good time to talk. I knew it couldn't be good news and I was right.
Although the news wasn't what I had hoped for, it was much easier once the waiting was behind me. Just know that whatever happens, we will all be here to help you deal. Hopefully we can help you celebrate good news!

I am so sorry that you have to wait until Monday for your results. They just don't understand how hard waiting is for us. I am praying to hear that your path report is clean. Please update us when you can on it.
