First reoccurence

I've been reading stories of people who've recently had reoccurence so I thought I'd share my story too. I completed chemo April'09 for stage 4 papillary serous ovarian. With my slow rising ca125 and bowel symptoms my surgeon wanted me to have a CT/PET. The ct came back normal, my ca125 is normal but the pet showed a small area on my colon. I had a colonoscopy on 12/9 which revealed a high suspicious area which is not colon cancer but likely something pressing against my colon from the outside. Probably a reoccurence of the ovarian cancer. Waiting for biopsy confirmation. The scary part is if my surgeon hadn't pushed for the PET scan I would have been given the all clear at this 6 month check up. Although I am out of chemo 8 months now my symptoms started prior to the 6 month point. Based on that knowledge it is questionable if I met the 6 month mark. To restart platinum drugs or not will be the question!

Our first reoccurence sounds the same. A needle biopsy comfirmed the tumor was pressing against my colon in the same area as the diverticulitis that flared up last May. I did not have a colonoscopy in all of this. I have gone back on carboplatin since August. The first dose was with doxil and it was the hardest that I have had. They dropped the doxil after that knocked me down for about 10 days of non function.
My CA125 reached over 400 before we started the chemo. You are much younger than I, so you might can stand more chemo better. I will be starting another chemo soon, probably as I am having to take lots of premeds and benedryl to counter the allergy that I have developed to carbo... my CA125 was up to 59 from 53 this last month which may indicate the carbo is not working after 5 doses. My next IV is 12/31 and I w ill post the outcome then. My tumors are papillary serous type too. I did have 11 months of a very slow rise in the CA125 in which I did not take chemo. It was wonderful.
