Monitoring a cyst after cancer in the past

Hello to all. I haven't been on this board for a bit as I struggle with other health issues but I want to take a minute to thank all who helped me on this topic board while I was struggling with what way to go with a cyst that was found on my ovary a few months back. I fought to see a gyne/onc as I had a history of NHL in the past and now with a cyst on my ovary I feared a second type of cancer so I wanted an onc to follow me instead of a regular gyne only. I got that type of specialist and have been seeing him for 4 months now.
On our first meeting he had been briefed on my extensive cancer history and treatments and gave me alot of info as to why he felt this cyst was not maglinant and both he and his nurse, in doing this, and treating me like I had a brain and could handle medical lingo gave me a great deal of relief that in fact his diagnosis was no doubt correct. He suggested we wait and see, monitor the cyst and have ultrasounds done every 3 months with a follow up consult with him, and I have been fine with that. Just got home from my second consult with him and the cyst is perhaps a tiny bit bigger but no blood sypply to it and it is unchanged from before so looking good. He will continue to do the ultrasounds and monitor me for at least a year or til I feel comfortable.
Knowledge and confidance in your gyne/onc is everything as many of you have found out and even though I am not a 'wait and see' kind of patient I really trusted and accepted his facts on my situation and so far it looks like I made the right choice. Other surgeons were going to give me a full hysterectomy for this and it's looking like this surgeon was right on the money with it being totally benign, and let's hope it stays that way. You gamble with 'wait and see' sometimes but this time for me it looks like it worked out. Whew.
So it is a good day for me today with this good news and the knowledge that I am in the best of hands. I think I need a nap. Talk about relief.
I will keep you updated on my condition and I hope all of you are holding strong and doing better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. Blessings, Bluerose
