Good to go for surgery 12/8!!
Just wanted to share the good news. We had our presurgery meetings with all the drs and the PET/CAT scan was good, all other tests good so the surgery will still take place on this coming Tuesday at 7:30 am. The feedings with the NG tube have helped, evidently I was showing malnutrition and finally my bloodwork came back normal for that. Guess all the trouble with the tube was worth it. Just hope I heal good. The dr went into all the ins and outs of the surgery, when he got to the incision in the side of my neck and told me about that I told him I hope I forget what you just said. All the prayers and support have kept me calm, I asked the nurses Is something wrong with me? I feel calm and not too worried, guess I just want to go ahead and be able to eat something besides broth and milkshakes and get the surgery over with. I have full confidence in Dr. Krasna, he is very kind and took his time answering our questions. It sure has been a long day, 9:00 am to 1 pm. I had a bad moment this am and I asked our Kitten to help me. She did and I know she will help all of us when we ask. I want to thank everyone for all the information, support and prayers that have been given to me on this board. I go in 12/8 and if all goes well, will come home on 12/22 just in time for Christmas. My hubby Ron is sweet, he says he is getting me for Christmas. He has been such a trooper thru all this, lucky to have him. take care and prayers for all!!

Are you having a hard time counting down the days til 12/8? It seems like it is pure torture--but I know we Just need to be patient.. I am glad your tube feedings have helped--hang in there...we are all behind you praying and thinking of you. I will be at Duke with my mom & siblings--my dad having surgery that SAME DAY!!!! It is so nerve wracking just waiting...but I am glad we have this chance..
I pray for a great and uneventful recovery for you DONNA---stay strong!

Hi Kath,
Unfortunately, Ron will not be posting, he hates to type and is more skilled at online poker!!! LOL!! I will post as soon as I am able to make the stairs when I come home. YOu all will have to trust that all is going well, which I am fully confident it will be. I have to believe that to go forward. I am hoping for you and Al that the rest of recovery goes smoothly. prayers for all,

Hi Kim,
I am praying for your Dad, we are partners in healing and recovery, only I won't know how he is doing, no laptop. One nurse told me yesterday that I won't remember the first week, but my coordinator shook her head and I dont think it is true. It is hard to wait, for you and your family, just hoping and praying that we both do so well. I am a Catholic and 12/8 is a big feast day for our Blessed Mother, Mary, so I am thinking she will bring us thru!! Is your Dad getting the minimally invasive? good luck and many prayers to you all.

Hi Bill,
Boy thanks for the update on Mike Wild Goose. I have been wondering what happened. Sorry to hear those cells are persistent. Dont worry Bill, my better nurse said it wasn't true about the not remembering the first week. Guess I should have remembered she was the same one who told me the Magic Wash would fix my swallowing problems, it didn't!!!! No they told me I will be foggy the first 2 days in ICU. You might have to deal with not hearing from me, maybe I can talk my son into accessing my favs and give him my passwords etc, but if he does it will be short and sweet. I will have my BGP's on and hope I get the industrial strength for when I come home, so I won't be a grouchy patient and give my wonderful Ron a hard time. We have had some yelling over the ng tube problems, it constantly gets plugged up and we work on it for a long time before the clogs come out. Boy will be glad I am coming home with a J tube and hope I can manage that. My family and friends have been wonderful and all of you here too, so think my present calmness comes from all those prayers being said. I will be home in 2 wks so I will try to write as soon as I can. I am so glad to get this over and eat something besides baby cereal!!! thanks again Bill, I love those jokes!!
