Hi, I've been on this site before, but not for a while. I've always found this to be a comforting community. I had a 3 month follow up appt. today (last chemo was one year ago). My CT scan shows a small spot in my rectum. I'm now going to be scheduled for a PET scan and a rectal ultrasound. The original dx was rectal cancer (4/08). I had radiation, surgery and chemo. Has anyone else been through this? And what happens if it is cancer again? I'm a little freaked out. Thanks, Amy

    HI Amy
I've not had rectal cancer but did read that rectal cancer that reoccurs in the same area does not count as Stage IV. That's good news.

I assume they'll treat it all over again, same way.

    Hang in there!

    praying
I don't know the answer, but just wanted to say I'll be praying that it's NOT cancer.

    thank you
Thanks for your kind words. I'm still nervous, but feel better this morning. I'm going to take it one step at a time like I've done since April 08. I'm calling to find out my PET scan date this morning.

    PET scan clear
Hi and thanks for any and all good thoughts. I had the PET scan yesterday. Doctor called today and said the spot doesn't appear to be cancer. I'm taking a big deep breath and sending out my gratitude. He'd like to do an ultrasound to find out what the spot is, but quite frankly, if it is not a recurrence, I don't care what it is!
