I will start next week...I found The string on radiation has lots of good info in it. I think the unknown is the worst part. Information is power!
This thread is incredible! I will start rads the last week of December, and I cannot wait. I am healing from my last chemo (yesterday) and feel like this is another check in the box of my long list to be able to dance with ned. Thanks for the advice ladies. You have proven yet again that we can beat this with a little knowledge and help from our friends. Pitt0 -

Thanks, gals, for all the suggestions.. I bought white T shirts, got samples of Aquafor and have started using it..I also bought a white sports type bra that hooks in the front, larger than I usually wear, for those times when I don't need to be "flopping". I am so grateful for your suggestions. 3 treatments down, 30 to go!!!
3 down already! Good job Diana! Like we keep saying, use lots of your creams and get lots of rest. Keep us updated on you as many are starting soon.

Thank you for posting these questions. I also have DCIS and am scheduled for a wire guided lumpectomy on the Dec 16 then rads to start in January. I have the light Danish skin and burn easily so we will see what happens. I am thankful for everyone's reply to your message ... I learned a lot. This is a great group. Good luck with the rest of your journey ladies.
Wishing you good luck Gloria with your surgery. And, good luck with rads.

I have had 24 treatments and
I have had 24 treatments and have 9 to go. I am 63 and have not had any trouble with fatigue. The radiologist told me last Monday that he may change the cream I am using when he sees me next time (which will be tomorrow) because I was starting to get pink. (I'm using Biafine now.) I am redder now than I was last week so I hope he gives me something that will help me make it through these last two weeks! I'm not burned yet but I'm worried I will be before the last 9 are done.0 -

Just got home from my treatment. My radiologist is on vacation this week so I saw his substitute. They said the next step up is to use Aquaphor with the Biafine. I'm supposed to put on Biafine first and then the Aquaphor. I am really red but he said there is no skin breakdown so I guess I'm doing okay. 8 to go!!0 -
not bad
Diana, hello....
I just finished rads 2 wks ago.
I had 30 treatments, 25 regular and the last 5 boosters.
It was not that bad at all.
I got fatigue the last 2 wks, a little red after the 4th wk.
I used every night a cream called Aquaphor.
the boosters are treatment that the radiation only
goes to the area were the tumor was, same amount of time
for me(approx 1minute).
If you burn easily may be different.
I saw a nurse once a week. She looked at my breast to make
sure everything was looking good. There are prescribed meds
they can give you.
While on tx i was able to work f/t.
good luck....0 -

My surgery (wire guided lumpectomy) is over a week away but I am starting to feel a little anxious. My pre-op is this Thursday with my reg doctor which I have no worries about. This will be the first time I see my reg doctor since I was diagnosed. I feel so silly posting my worries because from reading other posts I know most of you have gone through so much more.0
