Boring times

hey
Cindy - I have no problem with boredom. I still work full time and worked throughout treatment, except for one week when family was here. It was a wonderful distraction from the worry and side effects. Of course, I still have the side effects, but when working, you don't focus on every tiny pain (you do notice the big pain))etc. It is important to get out of the house. If you are not working and physically feel up to it, you may consider doibg somne volunteer work - there are many groups out there that would love some help animal shelters, literacy volunteers, etc. Maybe, you want to take some classes and learn new things -art - a language - home electrical repairs - anything that will keep you focused/distracted and who knows where these things can lead. Think about it - I cannot imagine sitting in front of a tv all day. Good luck with it - I know some days are harder than other days; just some thoughts. Good luck! Dazey0 -

Thanks Dazy.
I don't have a job to go to:) I am a stay at home wife. We have 2 Ragdoll cats and a 9 month old Bishon/Cocker Spaniel. But of course my husband works all day. We haven't lived here long and don't really have freinds. But you are right. I have to get out of the house more. All I'm doing is dwelling on getting better, and the more I do that, the more down I get. Bit I will try and get onto something, that gets me out of the house.
Another thing though is I still get so very tired if I'm out long. I'll work something out. Thanks for trying to help. I truly appreciate that:)

My husband is recovering from all of this radiation crap too. He's 8 weeks out. He leaves the house each morning for a walk. He often takes a nap in the afternoon and then takes our dog out for some exercise late in the afternoon. He goes to bed quite early. I do think it's important to nap when you feel tired. Your body is trying to heal and radiation takes alot out of you. Don't try to rush it!!! PK0 -

Thank you for your comment:) I am 4 weeks out, and I do get quite tired. I have started to do some exercises at home. Lifting small weights, push ups small things like that. I take our pup out to go potty, but where we live it's so darn cold. I sure don't want to catch a cold on top of everything. lol!

My boyfriend is 4 weeks out today. He has noticed very little change out of treatment.
he mouth is still on fire he says. Trys not to take any pain meds during the day, which helps for when he has to drive somewhere. But at times he has to take it. The miserable overall feeling is just getting so old to him. Still has alot of mucous in his mouth. always sounds like he is filling up, like he is drowning. is there light at the end of this tunnel somewhere? I mean i know there must be, but will this be about the time he starts to actually feel some differences. 4 weeks is a while. Its just torture on the mental psyche isnt it?
He still does get quite tired. He goes to the store and comes home and has to lay down.
He lost like 50 lbs some fat, alot of muscle mass. He is not eating by mouth, but trying to keep tube feedings at 3x or more a day. hasnt done 4x yet. He is cold alot of the time but Im sure that could be from no natural insulation. He lost it all. peach fuzz of hair on back of his head is growing back. thats something. doesnt sleep well yet. Someone just please tell me again what is average for what he is feeling or for what is expected.0 -

What are the feedings- formula? or Ensure/Boost? Calories are important (2100 for me/day), as is the quality of those calories. HE MUST GET THE NUTRITION NECESSARY TO ENABLE HIS BODY TO RECOVER. I was able to stop use of my feeding tube shortly after my last radiation treatment. What treatment did he have- chemo drips, or the pumps? The fatigue factor had left me by the time your boyfriend's still experiencing it. The "cold" is likely a thyroid symptom, and something many of us share. The "fire" in his mouth? Has he been using Magic Mouthwash, as they call it? By 4 weeks, with me- that fire had been reduced to a minor issue. Did he have "scalding" of the tongue- shown with flesh-colored strips running down the tongue?

I am not at liberty to give all the details as I do not know much of these details. I live 550 miles from him and we dont talk that much because of mucous. we txt alot but he doesnt type all of those details.
He had 6 weeks of radiation, last 2 weeks twice daily as well as chemo once a week for the 6 weeks. He had a port implanted at the beginning, but only had the feeding tube put in a couple of weeks ago because he just couldnt make it thru recovery and keep losing weight.
he can down very little liquids, like a bit of coffee, and some water and liquid pain meds.
nothing else. he otherwise uses all of the popular products that all of you use, and is very good at his protocol of hygiene.
his cancer was squamous cell/pallat cancer. the tumor is dissolved as far as they can tell without a pet scan. not until January. He has dr appts Dec 8. for follow up0
