Questions for Surgeon
A. What does Ductal Carcinmoma In Situ (DCIS) mean?
B. Are you Board Certified?
C. How many surgeries of these types have you done?
D. What do you specialize in?
E. MRI is schedule … what other test will I need? Why?
F. Types of surgery (Lumpectomy, Mastectomy) …any other options?
1. Risks of each
2. Benefits of each
3. Treatment afterward
4. Do any of the tests require medication? What are the side effects?
5. Recovery time
6. Which test do you prefer to do? Why?
7. Which procedure would you give your mother, wife or daughter?
G. Currently taking
1. Multivitamin
2. Calcium
3. Thyroid medication
H. Anything I should add? Other vitamins to help the breast tissue?
I. Anything I should avoid (medication, food)?
J. Does menopause affect cancer or visa-versa?

I also asked all the nurses I knew/came in contact with who they would chose if they needed surgery before I told them who I had. My surgeon is 1 of the 2 that my PA said she would use IF she needed one. So I would add their reputation of things to consider.
