edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
I was dx in July with Stage IV colon cancer. I was told I had a spot about the size of a quarter on my liver, it was in my lungs and lymph nodes in my abdomen area. Since then, my last CT scan showed the spot on my liver is gone or either small enough they can't pick it up on the scan, since my lungs did not show improvement, they sent me a lung specialist who did a lung biopsy this past Friday. The results were NOT cancer but sarcoidosis.

Right now I am feeling much better about my future since the lung biopsy. Does anyone think this might change my prognosis? Does it "bump" me back to maybe Stage 3?

I go back to the oncologist on Dec 1st and I am very anxious to see how it may change my treatment. Right now I am on Folfox6 with Avastin. I have had 6 treatments and was originally suppose to get 12.

Very intersted in someone else's take on this.

Sounds like good news to me
I would just go with the great news about the lungs and that the spot on the liver is gone. Staging is really just a number in my opinion, it's whether you have cancer or not, or if it's shrinking. To me, that is the point and it seems like things are really swinging in your favor and they could change your staging. The Avastin is good stuff, I was on that in the beginning and it did the trick, it shrunk my liver tumors so I could be operated on.
    That's my take on it.

    Staging never goes down
Staging never goes down. Chemo shrunk the spot in your liver but once a Stage IV, always a Stage IV. Some have had their colo/rectal tumors disappear because of radiation and chemo but they remained the same staging.

That's GREAT news about the liver shrinkage. Not sure what Sarcoidosis is other than it's on the list Dr. House recites every Monday night. :o)

    Staging
I am assuming that since you had liver and lymph involvement that you will remain a Stage IV. Since your chemo is working well for you on the liver met I'm guesing the oncologist will want you to complete all 12. I'm no expert so I'm assuming others will chime in on this. Congratulations on the good report. Take this report with a great big smile and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. Not having lung mets is something to truly be thankful for. Our report last Thursday was the best we could hope for at this time and the smile has not gone away although we did for the weekend.

    SARCOIDOSIS IS A CHRONIC
SARCOIDOSIS IS A CHRONIC LUNG DISEASE SORT OF LIKE TUBERCULOSIS.
BUT NOT CAUSED BY BACTERIA.IT IS NOT USUALLY FATAL.SO THATS GOOD NEWS.
BUT SORRY TO SAY ,ONCE A IV,ALWAYS A IV.(UNTIL YEAR 5 OF TOTAL REMISSION)
    GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE LIVER.
    GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
    GOD BLESS
