Waiting for more tests
I am experiencing pains in my abdomen as well as my back, groin, legs and rib cage. I also have bloating of the abdomen. I have been having bowels issues for probably a year and I am also having some wicked headaches. I am exhausted beyond belief and it takes all I have to make it through my work day.
It is driving me nuts waiting for all these tests and then it will be another week for those results. I wish they would get on with it so I know what is going on for sure.
I just lost my Step-Dad on July 14th due to cancer and my Dad was given 3 months to live as of October 8th. This has been a real tough year for my family and I have to say I am scared for sure.

CT Scan and CA125
Dear Delilah, I cna only imangine all you've gone through with your dad just passing from cancer and then this. Usually they can tell by the ultra sound but if in doubt I would ask for a ct scan and ca125 just to double check. Rather lean on the cautious side.

Ditto for me
I think Bonnie has the right idea. The abdominal sonogram missed mine due to the fluid in the abdomen. The CT showed it all over though! Add to that the blood test CA-125 which some doctors are reluctant to do even though it is pretty cheap and you should know something for sure. We are here for you and will be praying that you get an answer soon. We all HATE waiting. Saundra0 -

Hi Ladies thanks for the replies. If I want the CA-125 test I have to pay out of my own pocket and I have no idea what it costs. I am concerned about them missing stuff. Not sure why the are doing the abdominal again but I will go for it anyway. I will just have to be patient and wait for the test results. I wish the doctor would at least start with sending me to an OB/GYN. Everything I read says that bleeding after menopause is NOT a good thing.
Thanks Again

I don't know exactly how much it costs but I think a CA125 id relatively inexpensive, as far as tests go. It should be covered by insurance, though. It always has been for me.0 -

You can call a lab and ask. In Colorado where my daughter lives it is $29. I have one each month and my doctor says they are cheap. It is however difficult to get a GP to order one here in Texas. We ladies with ovarian cancer, consider them important but doctors do not. It can be a battle but keep insisting because imperfect as the test is, it is a referral point. Saundra0 -

The cost for mine jumped from $75.00 last year to $114.00 this year, with a $10 fee for the technician to take the blood sample. Thankfully, it is covered by my insurance. But even if it's not covered for you right now, if you can afford to do it I would. At least you would have a baseline to start with. And if you need to continue to have the test, maybe your doctor can send verification to the insurance company and they will cover it in the future.
Hope this helps. Please let us know how you are doing and what test results show.

Well just thought I would update everyone on my symptoms. I had severe pain in my right shoulder blade last night but it came and went. Then today I feel like I am pregnant and like I will explode. Wish they would hurry up with the tests.0 -
You may be filling with fluid. You should report this latest to the doctor. Saundramopar said:CA125

My doctor has now referred me to a OB/GYN for a biopsy and I found out a CA-125 test is $35.00 here. Hope it doesn't take too long to get an appointment. Still seeing my family doctor at 3 today just to keep her informed of changes.
