Not sure and scared

Yesterday my PCP gave me the results to my pelvic ultrasound perfomed on 11/18/2009. A large simple cyst in my right enlarged ovary. "Worriesome" Adjacent complex cyst component measuring 2.4 X 2.1 X 1.9 per flow with the periphery of the ovary....I have had pain on my right lower abdomen since last year but the Pelvic ultrasound on 8/26/2008 was normal. Pain came back really strongly the last two weeks and as I watched the Dr. Oz show on Ovarian Cancer, I called my PCP.
I am nervous, scared and confused. My family members have all died from different forms of cancer. I had my blood test yesterday and hopefully will find out results today. Have an appointment with my gynecologist on Wednesday.

Hi, Dr.Alicea
I'm glad you saw the show on Dr. Oz. It was very informative.
I also hope you get your results today and don't have to wait the weekend. I imagine that
the blood test you're talking about is a CA-125. Call and ask the nurse for the results.
That test is done by my lab in less than 24 hours, and they shouldn't make you suffer through the weekend, wondering about the results. And remember, the CA is only a guideline; not a true diagnosis tool. So don't be discouraged if it happens to be high.
The CA measurements are known to fluctuate.
I know that it will seem like an eternity for Wednesday to get here. Just try and keep busy and try, if you can, not to think about it too much. (Easy for me to say; but I do know how hard the waiting is... unfortunately, everyone on this site has "been there").
My gynecologist did an ultrasound at my 1st appointment with symptoms; and that's how mine
was found. He found the ascites (fluid) in my abdomen.
You found a great place here for support and information.
Hang in there, and best of luck to you

Stay calm
It may just be a cyst. I had a CT scan, followed by a needle biopsy to diagnose mine in 3/2007. You are normal to feel nervous, scared and confused. Just don't worry too much before the actual diagnosis. It could well be benign and then you would have wasted all of that energy with the worry. Take it one day at a time until you see the gynecologist. Come back here with any unanswered questions and support. There is a wealth of experience here. ((HUGS))) Saundra -
HELLO
Great advice from Saundra and Susan. I totally agree. These 'cysts' could be several things, and the CA125 may be elevated, even in the case of cysts, not cancer. So, let us know what you find out. I'll be praying for all good things. Hope to hear good news from you soon!
