Hello
I have been reading posts on here for little over a week and I signed up a few days ago. I have read a lot of things that has made me have a "sigh of releif" and some that have had me say "Oh My Goodness!!!". I am very thankful there is a place to go to where others know what it is you are trying to say, because you have been there and done that. I know each one of us are different and our bodies respond differently, but at the same time we are fighting the same thing.

Oct 14 I was told I had breast cancer. It was found early and was 2cm. I had a lumpectomy and 1 of my lymp nodes removed on the 29th of Oct. The surgery went well and I recovered quickly. The margins were clean and the lymp node was neg. but my Her2 was not good = (
My mom died of ovarian cancer, so because of this and my age, I am going to have a complete hysterectomy done on the 16th of Dec and at that time they will put in my port. I will have to do chemo and radiation.

My husband and kids have been so wonderful and supportive,as well as, our other family members and our church family. But like I said earilier I am thankful for all of you on here that can help me understand what I am feeling or going through. My hubby says he is thankful for you all too! = > I know I have a long year head of me and I will have to slow down some. That will be my challenge. I do so much at our church and we homeschool our 3 youngest children. I know it will all be okay. And I just want to say..........

....Thank you all for being here, Angel_4_James

As we often say ... welcome to the club none of us ever wanted to join. But ... actually ... I think it's more of a family than a club. We're here for each other ... through everything.

It sounds like you have things pretty much "under control" and that's a good way to get through it. It's always easier when you know what you are up against. Having your port "installed" at the same time as your other surgery is great. You will be so glad you have that port. Since you are HER 2 positive you'll no doubt be on herceptin for a year and the port will make those infusions a breeze. I'm still doing herceptin every 3 weeks through March ... and my visits to the chemo center are so fast (30 min) I hardly have time to get comfortable in the chair before the thing is beeping. I am so thankful I got the port ... that without it I'm not sure I could have gotten through the poking and prodding for all the blood draws and chemo infusions. I think I would have been passed out ... or running out the door in a panic attack.

You're going to do just fine ... :-)

    hugs.

    New on Here
    Angel,

I'm glad you found us. This is a wonderful support network. We are rant, rave, coddle, baby, and inform. We'd even do your laundry if we could. :) Anyway, feel free to write whatever helps you get through the day.

So, are you saying you are Her2nu+? If so, I am as well. I don't have ovarian cancer in my family,so haven't opted for anything more than the mastectomy and chemo. But, I am here for you whenever you need to chat.

Thank you. Yes it is Her2nu+. I have never been real good with terminology in the medical realm. =P But I have been trying to learn with all this that is going on
    with me.

I really like the pic you have up. The many faces we have at times. Reminds me of an
    old song by Billy Joel.....

    Have a blessed day.

    Hi Angel
Just wanted to say hi to you since I havent been able to spend much time on the computer lately. I am her 2 positive as well. I just finished chemo about 4 wks ago, had bilateral mastectomy in may and will do herceptin until august. I am also starting on a clinical trial after thanksgiving and will have reconstruction sometime next year. My hair is just starting to come back and so is my energy.

I had pretty tough chemo and was able to work a fair amount thru the whole thing. I started my jogging about 1 wk out of chemo and am up to 1 1/2 miles now so my answer to everything is to stay active as much as you are able... rest is important too, but exercise is really the key as far as I am concerned.

I might also add that without belief in something bigger than myself I would have never made it...and that has been something that I just found this summer so I feel that there is always good things that come out of bad.

    Hang in there
    Hugs

    Extending my Heart and Hand
Angel, sorry we had to meet under these circumstances. I'm still in hormone therapy waiting for surgery, so you're ahead of me. I look to the women here for comfort, knowledge, experience and most of all encouragement. You will find some here that are in the same place you are, others are ahead and some like me behind you. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
