Neupogen shots
I had a shot yesterday and one today, and I am already feeling stronger tonight. Is that just coincidence, or does it work that fast?
Also, as far as the bone pain, when was it the worst? I have no pain in my lower body, but I feel like a 300 pound suma wrestler is sitting on my chest. And my arms, neck, and back ache. I can take it - if this gets my blood counts back up and gives me energy it is worth it. Just curious if this will get a lot worse after my third and final shot tomorrow, or if it will stay about the same - and how long till the bone pain goes away.

I liked Neupogen soooooo much better than Neulasta that I got for my breast cancer, but, even the Neulasta reaction was over fairly quickly...just felt like the 24-hour flu...

Isn't that funny how everyone reacts differently?
Kathi, I had the opposite reaction as you did. I had a very hard time with neupogen- lots of pain in my hips, legs, ribs, and sternum and a sharp crushing feeling in my chest that sent me in to get an EKG- I thought I was having a heart attack. Now I get a Neulasta shot every time I get my 5FU pump unhooked and I have absolutely no pain or side effects from it at all. Very weird.

I've felt like a 300 pound suma wrestler is sitting on my chest this week. And a lot of upper body bone pain. But my lower body is fine. Worst pain in my chest, neck and shoulders - also my head and back. But my blood counts are high today! It is working! So it is worth it. I had my last shot today. The lab tech said that usually the shots do work quick, and usually the side effect pain goes away quickly too. Hoping for less pain tomorrow.
If I hadn't read a post about feeling like having a heart attack, I would have really worried. All of you on these forums are such a wealth of information and reassurance. Thank you!0 -

Hi Kathryn,
I'm glad it's working for you! Just a thought- maybe suggest you've heard of someone (me) who both neupogen and neulasta worked well for, but had pain w/ neupogen and was pain free with the neulasta. It might be worth mentioning trying the neulasta to possibly avoid some pain. I know it still causes the pain for some people, so it couldn't be worse, but might possibly be better (and you only have to get one injection each time instead of three, or however many you get).
Take care,

a slight lower back ache and a slight headache. All was gone the next day. Normally 2 neupagen shots were plenty for me to get the ole WBC back up. I never felt any new or exciting energy though. If it starts to sting while being injected simply have the nurse slow down and it does help if she/he warms it in their hand before injection to get it body temp. You simply don't feel a thing. I took mine in the back of the arm but never tried the stomach where I could have had them.....It was for me a practice after every treatment the following Monday before the next weeks chemo I got the one shot of Neulasta...WBC up every time.....Good luck , Clift0 -

I have the same affect with Neulasta however, sometimes I feel like I'm getting the flu I pop two tylenol do some sinus spray and take a nap and feel fine however this time around I felt like my adrenaline was really high. I had so much energy it was scary I thought eventually I would collapse I woke up during the night feeling like dirt. I don't know if the potency may be different each time. I need to wait and see. Do you have different changes with your energy levels each time? Thanks.0
