surgery date

Hi all,
Havent posted for a while but have been following everybodies story with interest.
Looks like my robot date is 7th Nov.
Any advice on practical issues would be most welcome,

I had my surgery 9 days ago, Oct 19. Surgery wasn't bad but I don't much care for the catheter (which comes out tomorrow !!).

I think the more experienced guys will say do your kegals. I was pretty good about that but I'll find out tomorrow (and in the coming weeks) whether I did them enough.

Before surgery, I set up all of the "ED" things - got trained on shots, ordered the "pump" (VED) - which just came a couple days ago. So I'm ready to tackle the next phase of recovery.

Hi Mike I had robotic on sept 3rd. I prepared by eating light for about a week. I walked constantly did kegals and kept hydrated.

I also lifted weights for about 6 weeks prior. Did all this help? In my opinion yes but for a guarantee I dont know.

One more thing enjoy sex because it may be awhile after surgery before you can do it again with healing and all.

If you get a foley catheter keep it lubericated at the tip and it is more comfortable.

Most important is you picked your surgeon now relax and put yourself in his hands,trust him and keep a positive attitude. The surgery is a breeze as you sleep through it but you significant other doesnt so reassure her its going to be alright and trust in God.

Wondered what happened to you. Glad to see you have made up your mind. NOw don't be second guessing your decision! All the advice given so far is good.
The first few days are the worst and then it gets better fast. I'm just over two months out from surgery and hardly remember it. Have been 99.5% dry and have used 0 pads. Sexually getting some results with Levitra but takes lots of work but it sure is better then I thought.
If you have dogs watch they don't jump on you. Our dog never did but when I visited my Son in NYC at 7 weeks post surgery his dog wanted to push on me! Boy did that hurt! Also DO NOT LIFT remember the 10 pound rule. Hold a pillow to your stomach if you have to cough or even setup, it helps.
WHen you finally get around to using the toilet its a little tricky with the cath. I ended up having to hold tissue paper in front of the penis since blood and stuff would come out around the cath tube while having the bowel movement.

Take care and keep us posted on how you do over there with your surgeons. Hope you found a good one with lots of experience!

I wasnt dithering about the decision.
Because I've had a dodgy back
(had it for 15 years) I wanted to get a bone scan to be sure, which came back clear.
The hospital where I'm due for the operation is one of the best in the UK and the
surgeon is the most experienced robotic surgeon in the country.
Unfortunately, there's been problems with theatre staff illness, so it's been a bit of a wait whilst he sorts out hs list.

I lift weights anyway a few times a week, but I'll increase my walking
this week and try and calm the dog down (even tho he's ancient!)
