Poetry...
"Are You Loving Enough?"
Are you loving enough? There is some one dear,
Some one you hold as the dearest of all
In the holiest shrine of your heart.
Are you making it known? Is the truth of it clear
To the one you love? If death's quick call
Should suddenly tear you apart,
Leaving no time for a long farewell,
Would you feel you had nothing to tell-
Nothing you wished you had said before
The closing of that dark door?
Are you loving enough? the swift years fly -
Oh, faster and faster they hurry away,
And each one carries its dead.
The good deed left for the by and by,
The word to be uttered another day,
May never be done or said.
Let the love word sound in the listening ear,
Nor wait to speak it above a bier.
Oh the time for telling your love is brief,
But long, long, long is the time for grief.
Are you loving enough?
Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919)

Very sad but beautiful poem...
I love the idea of this thread.
I am looking through my poetry and will post one soon

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN
I felt your soft touch and heard your mournful cry.
You knew I was leaving, but you couldn't grasp "why".
You held onto my hand, your heart heavy with gloom,
As I passed from this lifetime and rose up from the room.
It happened so quickly, in the blink of an eye.
My heart was too weak. No strength for "goodbye".
You saw it, I know, how the light drained from my face,
But you missed HIS great GLORY as it lit up the place.
I yearned so to hold you and say, "It's okay",
But HE took my hand and said, "Let's be on our way."
Please don't grieve for me now, love, for I have not died.
HE just put out this lamp for my dawn has arrived.
Though I'll miss you intensely, as I know you'll miss me,
HE has places to take me, and wondrous things I shall see.
I've been reborn to a place you can't now understand;
A place of Glory, and Peace, nestled in HIS right hand.
Yet I'll be with you always, only a faint breath away.
My love shall be with you every moment...every day.
And although I don't know yet every step of HIS plan,
Rest secure in the knowledge that we WILL meet again!0 -

your pictures perfect for this poem. I cried the whole time I was reading it. Did you write it yourself? It's beautiful. Here's one I wrote for my relay for life this year since the theme is 'The Sound of Hope' I had everyone close to me tell me what gives them hope and made it into a poem hoping it would give others hope as well.
The Sound of Hope
What does Hope sound like?
Similar to the people around us,
It's different with every fight.
It's the sound of children laughing,
The extra beat of your heart
When you see your crush passing.
It's the hum you make
When your mom hugs you,
Or a soft breeze across a lake.
It's the growl of your first car,
The sigh you make after getting lost
And then realizing where you are.
It's the crunch of snow on Christmas,
The ding of cookies are done,
And the smack of a long distance kiss.
It's singing along to the radio,
Windows down, belting notes
In keys only dogs would know.
It's the Wedding March in July,
And a new heartbeat in April.
The crack of a flag flying high.
It's a doorbell rang by a friend,
A blown out candle on a cake,
The closing of a book at end.
It's getting a postcard addressed to you,
It's hearing the words “We can beat this”,
And knowing in your heart it's true.
The sound of Hope is what you're hearing
When you walk the track at night,
A symphony of feet pounding,
As we continue to fight the good fight.0 -

I have always thought this was the most beautiful poem...and so true.
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

That is a nice contribution, Glenna, thanks.
I hope people keep adding.0
