That was a very interesting read! I wish there was more current information in it though. It only went up to 1999. I think i'm going to look around that website some more.

3000bce?
I'm suspicious of the 3000 BC date given. I found a reference that dates the Edwin Smith papyrus to the 17c. BC. (which does mention a theory, however, that it is a copy of an earlier document that might go back as far as 3000 BC): http://www.touregypt.net/edwinsmithsurgical.htm

It was on the internet so you must take the "truth" of it into consideration. On this site, I saw a reference to the Edwin Smith papyrus you mentioned.

My point was that it's been around for a while, not just since the industrial revolution. I do believe that it's much more prevalent since modern times. Our environment, diet, lifestyle all can contribute to health or disease.
