czab, talk to your doctors
czab, talk to your doctors and tell them what is happening to you. they can help with your sleep problems and emotions. you should be talking to someone about this like a therapist on a regular basis. can't urge you enough to do this, don't suffer another day it isn't necessary. you have a big job ahead of you and you need every ounce of courage, don't let depression sap it. call your doctor today. i am thinking of you and hoping you will post on this site letting us all know that you are taking care of yourself physically and mentally. i know you are tough but let me tell you that my husband fought in vietnam, ran a business that was very challenging and being diagnosed with brain cancer was his biggest challenge ever! my tough husband sought counseling and medication to help calm him. was it worth it? well, oct 1 we celebrated the begining of his 10th year of survival. thinking of you.0 -

Thank you both. I'll be sure to talk to me doctors. I was suppose to go for my last round of chemotherapy Thursday but my blood counts were to low and had to undergo a blood transfusion. So i have to wait another week. Seems like this has been going on forever, i just want to get it over with.0 -

with low blood counts and transfusions it tell me that you need to rest and eat healthy. you are young and am sure you have been very active (baseball) and with friends and school. i have 4 boys all adults now and i know that you cheat on amounts of sleep you are getting. the only way to get that blood count up is to get plenty of sleep and to eat good foods. mom and dad can help you do this i am sure. if you want to get it over with you must do these things. keep us posted, look for you each day.0 -
Don't worry about trying to
Don't worry about trying to stay strong ... I'm 47 years old and I cried myself to sleep too! Just take it one day at a time. When it's bad, remind yourself that you can make it through one more day. And when that doesn't work, try one hour at a time!
I read Lance Armstrong's book when I had cancer, and it was helpful for me. It's called "It's Not About The Bike" In case anyone reading this doesn't know who he is, he's a 7-time Tour de France winner who survived stage 4 cancer. He's an incredibly tough guy, both mentally and physically, but he was scared, depressed, angry and miserable too.
Don't worry about upsetting your parents. They're adults... they can handle it! Even if it doesn't seem like it at the time. :-) Yes, this is tough for them too, but I would guess that they want to be there for you, even if it upsets them to hear what you're going through.
Does your city have any social groups for teens with cancer? It seems like that would help.0
