Happy Birthday
I've been reading your posts and finally had time to register so I could post something. I can't sleep and it's 1:53a.m. Yesterday 10/12 was my 41st b-day. What a far cry from my surprise 40th b-day. My whole face, neck, and chest broke out in an acne rash. It's only been 10 days since my first chemo treatment and I wasn't expecting this. It's horrible. I called the nurse and she really didn't have any suggestions. I won't see the doctor until the 23rd. Does anyone else have suggestions. I'll be losing my hair any day and would really rather not look like I have a pimple rash too.

Nice to meet you!
Jenn although I am very sorry you have to be here I am very happy you found us as this site is filled with many caring individuals. Now that said I would suggest you go to the Emergency room and let have that rash checked. Anytime one has chemo there can be unexpected complications, its best to have any oddities checked out quickly. Hope to hear from you soon!

Welcome jenn!
Yeah,I would have that checked also. For peace of mind .Nice avatar-it's different and I like it!0 -
Hi Jenn and welcome
Don't spaz. It probably is a reaction to the chemo. Once my hands broke out in a solid rash and itched like crazy. Then once my arms broke out, but in a different kind of rash. Everyone reacts differently. But I agree that it is always best to check with your doctor.

My 40th birthday was Oct
My 40th birthday was Oct 7th, I spent it getting my second round of chemo. I have what sounds similar to what your describing. After my first treatment my face got very oily, I had large pimples to breakout on my face and chest, but I also got a fine, rough feeling rash on my neck and shoulders. I asked my onc bout it she said that it happens to some people. She gave me a Rx for Doxycycline which has helped the acne but I still have the rash.

Happy Birthday!
Wanted to wish you a Happy Happy Birthday.......I would check with my oncologist and ask if it's okay to use a cortisone cream, you can buy it over the counter.....but check with him first.....Losing your hair will be traumatic, for a while, but I promise you, you will get used to it......I cried.......I call my bald head our "headlight/nightlight." Finished chemo so I have little peach fuzz and stubble....both different colors! Chemo is different for everyone......I never had the rash, but my skin did darken somewhat, especially the veins they used........Hang in there, easier said than done, I know!
Best wishes

I just got a port put in yesterday and haven't had any chemo yet...so I am no help other than to say hi and I know you will get good advice for these awesome warriors.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was worried after I heard from you and decided to go to the doctor in the a.m. But, when I woke up it seemed like it was getting better. So, I haven't gone in and it's Friday...but seems almost cleared up. So, hopefully by Sunday I'll be back to normal.

Thanks for writing. Yes, it was definitely a reaction to the chemo or the steroid. It ended up looking a bit better the following morning,so I didn't go in. Today,it's almost normal. Hopefully by Sunday I'll feel like myself again.

Isn't Doxycycline a steroid? I think that's what I'm taking. I'm comfy in my chair or I'd get up and check. Pitiful isn't it?

How is your port doing? I found it uncomfortable the first week. I'm getting used to it now...it's about 3 weeks post op.now.

and Happy Birthday! Not the type of Birthday any of us would wish for, but glad you found us. I have no suggestions as I did not go through chemo, but mainly wanted to welcome you to the boards. ♥Pammy
Thanks for the welcome. Are you a friend of someone with B/C?

Jen,
Pammy went through radiation so she is one of our wonderful sisters.
She is a great story teller as well as a wealth of information.

Hi, jenn
Happy Birthday, what a difference a year makes. I didn't get a rash, just a hemmorrhoid from all the digestive trouble I had. It's been 12 days since my first and my hair is starting to shed. I guess we'll have to put vanity on hold for awhile during this treatment. It's the pits, but necessary. I hope you're well.0
