Breast Cancer to Skin Cancer there is a connection
Hi I have just been told I have a deep basal cell carcinoma on my face between my eyes. I am awaiting Mohs surgery to have it removed. I researched and found that breast cancer can make you suseptable to skin cancer, so ladies if you have not seen a dermatologist in awhile please add it to your things to do!
Hugs,

Thanks Dawne:
Right now I am walking around looking like I was shot between the eyes just from the hole left from biopsy. Thank goodness my hair has grown back enough to have bangs. I'll post how the surgery goes afterward. I guess we will always have to be vigilant with self checks and having all body parts looked at!

Sorry to hear
Sorry to hear about the basal cell on your nose. I think this, if caught early is really easy to cure. I also read an article just this week about a connection to skin cancer and breast cancer. I was one of those in the 70's that "broiled" myself in the summer sun, hoping to be the tannest one on the block! I spent hours in the sun! I guess one more thing to keep a lookout for - thanks for your info. It's good you caught it! I'll keep you in my prayers!
take care

Thanks......
I just finished reading an article in a radiation journal..It stated that having radiation for ANY type of cancer does increase your risk of skin cancer in the future. It strongly suggests using sunscreen even on cloudy days....A good friend of mine is a bc survivor of 10 years and 5 years ago, was dx with skin cancer.....she DID not have radiation, she had a mastectomy and chemo......as someone said, "if it's not one thing, it's another!"

I wonder if the connection goes the other way as well. I had basal cell carcinoma on the very tip of my nose (of all places!) that was removed about 10 years ago. Now I have BC. Very interesting findings. ♥Pammy
Hi Pammy! I wonder too how much one cancer leads to another. I had cervical cancer in 1992, 2 types of breast cancer 2008 and now skin cancer in 2009....makes you wonder is there a connection or am I just a cancer magnet?
