colonoscopy today- update w/ good news
I've been reading the posts off and on- I feel kind of bad that I haven't been as responsive as I used to be, but that's just kind of where I'm at right now. I've been so busy and preoccupied with my husband and kids, that I've hardly had enough extra energy to give out lately. I'm doing okay though, spirit wise, just really tired all the time.
I go in for a colonoscopy today in another three hours from now (check in time noon, actual procedure at 1:00 p.m. P.S.T. & yes, I'm hungry right now-lol!). I wasn't too worried before about this upcoming colonoscopy, but now I'm thinking about it a lot. This is the first actual full colonoscopy (with ultrasound) that I've had since my diagnosis a little over 2 yrs ago. I had a sigmoidoscopy in April '08, but never a full colonoscopy. My colorectal specialist/surgeon wanted me to have one last year, but my onc said no. The new onc I started with in June has now agreed to it and so here it is today. I have still been on Folfiri but had to go off the Avastin for six weeks prior to be able to have it.
When the colorectal specialist examined me in August, she said she felt "something small" where my former rectal tumor was. She said it could be scar tissue or even something benign, but wanted to further check it out. Nothing showed up there on the PET, so hopefully that means it's nothing. We'll see how it goes... I'll report back in tomorrow about it.
Take care everyone,
Lisa

My Lisa
Hey, California Sunshine
I know you've had your hands full - you can't be here every minute - "we all take our turns" working this board takes time and when you pour your heart into it, then sometimes the tank is on Empty...I had a few days like that recently too, but am back in the saddle doing what I can before next weeks's surgery.
So, it's more than understandable...I miss you and know that everyone else does too...but you take care of business and when the time is right, you will be back on spreading your love to everyone - I/We can't wait for that
I'm hoping all is well on your 'scope and feel it will be OK, but will throw an extra prayer in there for you as insurance.
I've been thinking about you lately, along with so many others here in the family. I found my 1st post that was opened when I first started and guess who was on that one - Lisa42!
I know you won't be on too much right now, but I'm opening up my last post before surgery on Sunday or Monday and I would like you to be a part of that if you are able to.
Next Thursday on the 15th, it's going to be Craig vs DaVinci and we'll see who the big winner is...me of course, right?
You are in my thoughts and prayers, Lisa
We'll all be here when you come out of this storm - it will pass...

I was in the hospital today, and just seen this, I hope all went well Lisa, I am praying for you, and bet this scope will come out just fine! Think positive, and I agree with everything Craig says, you can't be here all the time, we still think of you as family here as well, whether you're here or not. I post when I'm up or down, it's just something I feel compelled to do I guess because I feel bad for the scared folks too, you all were here for me when I needed someone, and now I want to be there for the people who are needing some people as well, sometimes I can't be here all the time either, but I try, though having 4 kids and alot to do here as well make it hard!
Good luck on your scopy girl!
Hugsss!

Hi Kim,
Thanks for the prayers and encouragement!
Didn't you have a scan today? How did it go?
I'm sure you'll let us know when you have the results. Praying for good news for you!

Good news!
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so very much to all of you for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. You guys are always so great.
Things went very well today with the colonoscopy- The Dr. was great- really friendly and one of the best- he remembered me from awhile back and said my colon is in excellent shape and no problems were discovered at all! The Dr. mentioned that he had it in his notes that the colorectal specialist had felt something "nodular". He said he didn't know what she felt, but that there was absolutely nothing at all there today!
I made up for my 24 hr fast this afternoon and evening. I went out to lunch w/ my mom (who had taken me), and then out to dinner w/ hubby and kids tonight. I'm feeling so much more positive and upbeat tonight!
Hugs to all,
Lisa0 -

Yeah! Way to go Lisa! I am so very happy for you.
BTW... don't feel bad or "guilty" about not connecting here as often as you would like. We all have lives, family, and committments and our time and energy available for connecting may vary from day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, or even year-to-year. Fortunately we have enough depth in the community as a whole to keep things vibrant and alive even when some need to be less active.
That said... It is sure great to see you and hear from you!!
Be well... Rob; in Van0 -

....having some abdominal pain, upper back pain and chest pain, I just got unhooked from chemo, and wanted to make sure I wasn't having some blood clots or something, turns out, I had a huge bowl of pasta with cheese a few hours before that, and also thought I was having another blockage, I started panicing (I get panic attacks bad sometimes), and was fine the next day, we left on Tuesday night, got out yesterday afternoon, no blockages, heart and kidneys were fine, I was probably panicing thinking I was having another blockage, lol...but they wanted to make sure I wasn't having blood clots either since my feet swelled last week as well, better to be safe then sorry lol...poor doctors running all those tests, and I was just hurting from gas. They were laughing at me though...LOL
Hugsss!
