I would like yo know if anyone can tell me who did your first CEA testing before surgery, was the surgeon or was your primery care physician that order your pre-op tests? as I now have reached the 3 years mark and NED I had all my tests and scan done last August and everything was fine my oncologist told me to see him in 6 month just for the CEA, but I don't have any record of mine before surgery and just wanted to know who should have been responsible for that.
Thanks

    CEA
    Hi Betina,

I didn't get my CEA done until right before I started chemo. I had emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction when they found the cancer. They still check the CEA every 3 months but I don't know if it tells them much since I didn't have one before surgery. Wish they would have done one. Congrats on your 3 years NED. Yeah!!

    God Bless You,

    CEA test
I didn't have one done until after surgery and the oncologist did it unless they did it with the preop stuff and I didn't know about it.

    Blood tests
CEA is usually done when all your other blood work is done. It takes a separate test and adds to the cost of the bloodwork (a few bucks so they do ask for it separately). My oncologist just gave me a complete list of all of my CEA results for the last 5 plus years last week. If yours is like mine, you can get them all by email from him/her.

Look forward to seeing you in 2 1/2 weeks!!!!
