small ovarian cysts that ended up being cancer??

HELLO
Well, if there's ANY concern of cancer I would go to an gynecologic oncologist. And most likely he/she would advise more than an laparoscopy to see what's going on. There's really no way to know for sure, even with laparoscopy, unless they can biopsy right away. Most importantly, they can see everything much better than via laparoscopy. It's just a suggestion, but would certainly minimize the need to go back in at a later time.
Please let us know how this goes for you. I'll be praying for a positive outcome.
God bless.

Hi Monika,
My gynecologist already sent me to the gyn-onc. He was the one that was not too concerned and he will be performing the laprascopic surgery. He will be able to take samples and remove cyst if necessary in this procedure, won't he??? I was thinking he would be doing that.I will be having another vag. ultrasound this thurs., so I'm anxious to see if it has grown since then. I have had so many problems since June and just about every symptom of ovarian cancer.0 -
It's what I am terrified of
I had non hodgkins lymphoma 20 years ago and have been cancer free then during a fairly minor surgery to remove a kidney stone from my bladder the radiologist noticed a small cyst and node on my right ovary and he compared it with a CT done before, in November of last year, and there it was then. THEY MISSED IT. Grrrrrrrrrrr. I have been trying to get it biopsied ever since. I am in Canada and the waits for our operating rooms are nuts.
I am getting the same story from my doc and two gynes though, 'its too small its probably nothing' I said to them 'can you tell me for sure it isnt cancer? KNowing of course they couldnt, and they said 'no'. So I said 'could we find out then for sure?' Especially with my history and treatments I am ripe for another cancer.
I fought hard to see a gyne/oncologist as they wanted me to get biopsied by a reg gyne first but I fought it out and on Thursday I see one. He will probably pass the buck to a reg gyne but I am going to basically beg for him to do it. I have a heart issue and general anaesthetic is tough on me so I would rather a gyne/onc do the biopsy and if he has to do a full hysterectomy after all he finds then he can do it, a reg gyne won't so then I would have to be put under general anaesthetic twice. Forget it.
Big cysts had to start off as small cysts I figure so best to get biopsied as soon as you see them and be sure. CAtch it when it's early, why don' the docs remember that when we present with small cysts? Take care and hope everything goes well for you. Blessings, Bluerose0 -
maybe the reason so many people diagnosed at stage 3 or laterbluerose said:It's what I am terrified of

I can certainly understand your concern, since you had lymphoma before. I'm really starting to think the reason people are diagnosed so late is because they don't take women seriously unless the mass is really large. Like you said, the big cysts had to start of as small cysts. I have had one problem after another since June and am still experiencing fatigue, bloating, abdominal distention, the weight gain, back and leg pain. In the last two weeks have developed these lumps or knots on the back of my legs behind the knee, about the size of a marble or a little larger. I'm really starting to get worried and it takes so long to get all the tests and results back. I'm working on 4 months now and can hardly take it any longer. I can imagine how you feel with you approaching a year soon. My grandmother also had a "female" cancer (we think it was ovarian, but not sure, because she has passed)at the same age as me (44) so I'm really wanting to get this done quickly. I hope everything goes well for you as well, and hopefully you'll get that surgery soon too!0 -

Just wandering how did you get your non hodgkins lymphoma diagnosis. Did you have symptoms then or did you accidentally find out??0
