Leukemia Treatment in Laymen's Language

I overcame (so far) a minor facial cancer some years ago. Recently a friend was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and is undergoing chemo-therapy. In seeking to provide support I was dismayed to find that the wealth of information available was primarily technical and medical. Actual accounts of the experience in simple language, explanations, what to expect, when to expect it, explanation of medical procedures, etc was lacking. My friend and I felt it would be worthwhile to tell his personal story in a very public way on the Internet - in the hope that others might find support and encouragement in his experience. Have others experienced this lack of simple, direct information? Do you feel that there is a place for detailed personal accounts in the information process. Would it be helpful to have access to another's experience at this level of detail?
