Three months or so on the first post-treatment scan. Then six months, a year (for several years) and, happily, no more. As usual there appears to be a range that is acceptable so don't be alarmed if your schedule differs. Good health to you. Rich
They told us 3 months for a PET -- 2 weeks for CT0 -

Similar to everyone else
Completed treatment 10-07, first PET 1-08 showed small area of concern, Sonogram 02-08 verified that it was a false positive and diminishing. PET 4-08 all clear. At the one year mark reduced PET to each 6 months. Next one is next week for the 2 yr. mark. Assuming all is well they may reduce to annual PET's. ENT recommends quarterly pediatric nasal/throat scoping and an annual PET up to the 5 year mark.
As others have said, don't be alarmed if they see "false-positives" at the first 3 mo. PET. This is very common.
Best of luck..................JK0 -
First PET Scan Post Treatment
My Oncologist ordered mine at six weeks post treatment, all was clear (tonsil cancer with a tumor also located on the side of my throat behind and lower than my ear) stage III SCC HPV related.....
My ENT feels that the first PET should be in the 3 - 4 month range also as stated because of false reads and incomplete healing from all of the radiation.0
