Looking for support-Cervical Cancer

I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with cervical cancer June of this year, after having 2 colposcopies, 1 miscarriage, 1 birth, and a conization. My husband was deployed to Afghanistan when I got the news that I have cancer. He was immediately sent home. I am going to UNC for my care. I was diagnosed with stage 1b2 and later had a PET which showed it had spread to my lower lymphnodes. I was scheduled for surgery the day after my 27th birthday and the first day of school for my 8 year old son. I was to have a radical hysterectomy and dissection of lymphnodes and have the ones removed. Well I woke up later to find I didn't have a hysterectomy. I was so upset I was crying. They found an egg sized tumor in my lymphnodes wrapped around some nerve and he worked at removing that. I am scheduled for a consult with the radiation guy in 1-2 weeks and have been told I will have low doses of chemo through an IV and internal/external radiation.
Who knows that may change when I actually talk with the radation guy. I am so scared, scared for my life and for my babies. I have a daughter who will be turning 1 next month. I have been so hopeful up until this point. It seems like each time I go see the oncologist I'm a step further from becoming a survivor, treatment keeps changing. I just want to beat this.

Hang in there young lady. I know things look very bleak at this time, but keep your head up and wait and see what the docs have to say. You can beat this!! I went through the same thing as you, except when I woke up they had restaged me to a IVA. The CT originally only showed the cervical mass. When they got inside they found it had attached to my bladder and involved abdominal and pelvic lymph nodes. I finished internal/external radiation & chemo just over a year ago and am still clean at this time. I prefer not to focus on what the statistic say cause I am going to beat those!! One day at a time

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I just want you to know that you are not alone. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I'm a 43 year old mother of two girls. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November, 2008. I had four needle biopsies, several cat scans, and several MRI'S. I had a 6 cm tumor in my right breast. I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction on January 5, 2009. I had an axailiary node dissection in March, 2009. Cancer was found in several lymph nodes. I had 6 rounds of chemo and 30 rounds of radiation. I completed radiation in August, 2009. I'm in remission with the breast cancer. Life started to feel normal again. Just when I started to feel good about myself, I was hit with more devastating news. I went in for a routine pap smear, and was told that I had a mass. I had a colposcopy done in October, and a conization done on November 12th. November 20, 2009, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I had the Cystoscopy and Proctoscopy surgical procedures done on December 9, 2009. I was told that the tumor is 6 cm. I'm scared to death. Sometimes I just want to give up. I know there is hope, but I sometimes wonder if there's anymore hope for me. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!!!!! I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Remember, God knows that we need his strength. Rest in the promises of God's Faithfulness. Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

It sounds like you've had your hands full the past year. Don't give up...there is always hope. I was declared in remission Dec. '08 from IVA cervical. I continue to have good days and bad days due to the treatments, but I'm alive. I hope you are surrounded with a great support team throughout all this. What is your next step for treatments? I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers. Enjoy this holiday season as much as possible.

Love, i was about 26 when my cervical cancer was found. I was very scared and my mother has passes away from Breast Cancer 4 years eariler. I'm very happy to say tho that I had surgery and that was all i needed. The cancer was gone. Remember that everyone is different but was all have hope. Please keep us posted so we can know how you're doing.
