ANXIETY
Hi Sheila
You did not say what Chemo you were on. When I was on Doxil I had Anxiety, depression and a nervous feeling. And I am on Prozac. I have been on Taxol/Carbo and Abraxane/Carbo and neither one left me feeling that bad. I was only on Doxil for 3 treatments and the Dr took me off the drug.
Hope you feel better.
Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!Dinora -
anxiety/depression
Hi Sheila, I have dealt with anxiety and depression off and on since my dx in 2007. I am currently on doxil and feel better than I have for a long time. I think the combination of surgery, chemo, feeling out of control period! and everything else that goes along with the dx can cause anxiety and/or depression.
I have been able to cope so far without meds, but certainly haven't ruled it out. I do take a sleeping pill once in a while.
Warm hugs,
kathleen:) -
Normal
Hi Sheila, sorry to read you are now dealing with anxiety and depression. ((HUGS))
But wanted to let you know this is pretty normal, some people get angy and depressed, others get weepy(me) and some just sail through like it was a breeze(give me some of what they are taking) :-)
Anyway I don't mean to make light of it, just wanted to let you know You are Normal. If it continues make sure you talk to your dr about it, there are meds that can help. And remember all your body is going through, no hormones( a biggy in itself) then surgery, then chemotherapy and still adjusting to the word cancer.
Sending lots of hugs ♥ prayers your way. Bonnie
What Cancer Can't Do
CANCER CAN NOT . . .
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the spirit.
It cannot lessen the power of the RESURRECTION!

Thank you all for your posts. It makes me feel better to know that, although this is a big dx to deal with, I am still allowed to feel this way and know that it is normal. I called my oncoligist nurse and she has made me an appointment with my primary. I took Zoloft around 12 years ago for about 4 months and then quit. I know that everyones makeup is different but would like some suggestions on a good anti-depressant. I did'nt care for Zoloft's side effects, gave me weird dreams. Let me know if you have a suggestion. You ladies are the GREATEST and I love you all.
Thank you for taking this journey with me and Bonnie, you are so right. I am so glad that I have a Jesus that loves and cares for me.
Gods Blessings

Anxiety
Hello, I was having anxiety, irritability and sadness a couple of days after chemo and I talked to my Dr. about it. I was taking Decadron for naseau and she said that was what was causing it. One of her patients called it her husbands 'mean' medicine. Some anxiety is perfectly normal in these situations, but if you're experiencing a sharp increase, I'd look into the meds. Even knowing that's what is causing it can make it easier to deal with. Good luck!
Also, I would try Ativan for the anxiety. It deal with the problem almost immediately, doesn't have to build up in your system over time and you can take it as needed. It will also help you sleep at night with out any weird side effects.
take care! -

I also take ativan for anxiety, but only take it at bedtime so I can sleep through the night. When I've tried not taking it I wake up at around 2 or 3 and am up the rest of the night. I was diagnosed almost two years ago with stage 3-c and went through chemo and surgery. I still have anxiety about having a recurrence and my ca-125 is rising slowly which my doctor isn't concerned with but I am. I really do think the ativan helps me to get a good night's rest.
