HE4 test

Hi everyone!
I was at my Gyn/Onc yesterday for a 4 month follow-up. I'm happy to report that my CA-125 is 5.5 after 2 years out of chemo. I feel very fortunate, but still waiting for that other shoe to drop, if you know what I mean. For my next blood test (in another 4 months), for the first time they will be doing an HE4 test along with the CA-125. Has anyone had this test before? I was reading about it on the internet, and apparently the combination of the 2 tests supposed to help identify potential ovarian cancer in women who have a known tumor. It's around 90% accurate, which is much better than the CA-125 alone. The nurse said that this is something they are trying out. I haven't had a chance to ask my doctor about this yet, so I'm not sure if this would actually help to identify a recurrance, or if they are just gathering data from known ovca patients for a study. It sure sounds better than endless CT scans, and other invasive/harmful diagnostic techniques. I would love to get your input! Thanks!

Never had one
Hi Marianna, I know I have been hearing others mention they are getting a HE4 test too but my doc has never done it for me anyway. Maybe it depends on where one is at with the cancer. I have lots of tumors and inplants so maybe that is all we need to know. Thanks for sharing. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -
HE4
Marianna,
I had the HE4 test done in January 2009. It should be less than or equal to 150 PM mine was 53. So that was very good. Of course it was my one and only HE4 test and did not have a previous test value to show progression or no progression.
I was diagnosed January 2008 Stage 3C and then remission, and now in recurrence since June?
My CA125 last time was 36.3 so it is going down after two treatments.
In His Grip,
Libby0
