Unusual colon cancer, and possible treatment

Hello All,
I have a friend who's 78 yo grandfather has been recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Recent meaning less than two months. The doctors do not seem to have knowledge of anyone else with the symptoms that he presents with. THose being that the tumors fall from his rectum. THe first two times he was hospitalized and they were removed. THe last time, they kept him home because it fell off. It only takes a couple of days to for a new tumor to grow, and when it does, he becomes completely lethargic, and seems near death. Once the tumor is gone, he instantly regains his color and becomes energetic. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
