Saw the doctor today that performed the daVinci on May 04, 2009, it was my second follow-up. My PSA remains "undetectable"...good news !! We discussed the persisent ED, and now he has me scheduled to see his Phys. Assistant on Oct. 05, 2009 for injection therapy. Here's the irony, it is our 24th wedding anniversary that day, and unfortunately, my wife won't be able to travel with me to Boise for the appointment, so she won't get to take advantage of me in the doctors office for the grand occasion of the first erection since before the surgery in May. !! LOL

So..... if any of you have tried the injections, we would love to hear from you about your experiences with it. I don't fear needles at all, but do worry about the pain that I have read about that some men undergo due to the the medications that are injected.

Man... what we guys will go through to get "back in the saddle".

    The PSA news is fantastic. The fact that your wife can't go with you to the appt. is a bummer. As you know my surgery is Thursday, so I can't speak from personal experience about the injections. But I have sure read up on them. The most complete experience description I have read came from the book "Making Love Again". Written by husband and wife the experiences of injection therapy are the most personally telling I have read. It's not just the physical but the emotional factors that come into play. If you have a chance, sit down with your wife and at least read this part of the book before you go. It is not from the Dr. and clinical point of view, but from the experiences felt and shared by each and explained in their own words. Powerful stuff.

    With regards to the lengths men will go to to get back in the saddle.

    It's in our genes. Every one of us at some point in our childhoods or adult life has dreamed of being a cowboy and living the rugged self-sufficient life of the outdoors. It is the ultimate in being a man's man. So is it any wonder that we all strive to live in the saddle and live the life of men.

    Thats great news about you PSA. I would love to hear more about the injections in case. Good luck with them and hoping your wife will "benefit" when you arrive home......Nick

    INJECTIONNNNN.well the first thing i will tell you if your doctor have not tell you yet is that
    in about 87% of men it will take about 8 or 9 months for a natural erection.but in the mean time you can try MUSE it works but yuor balls will hurt a little I did not like that.
    I tryed the injection and about 45 seconds my D..... was so hard that my wife had to miss work
    that day.the injection do not hurt,but it is the impretion of the nidle on your JR.The only problem with the injection some times JR does not want to come down and you ed up in emergency waiting for some one to take some blood from JR.My surgury was about five years ago,
    thank God psa is 0.04 and with 100mg of viagra I can perform about 120%,with out viagra it is
    about 85% I am 51 years old and pc hit me when I was 46years.you nedd to be patient it will come back.I see many claim of they jr working in less than two monhts and I congratulet those
    lucky guys.

    Glad to hear about your 0 PSA! I hope things work out for you on the injections. I've read the needle used is very tiny and feels like a mosquito bite so even though its an area that you don't want needles it shouldn't hurt.

    I haven't experienced the shots but have read that sometimes they will try different dozes of the shot med to see what will work best for you. So take heart even though its your 24th anniversary you would probably have nurses, dr's etc banging on the door to check on your progress!

    Trimix injection

    Had my prostate remove Aril 20, 2009. As part of penile rehab, I've done Trimix injections for about three months. It works great. I also do Levitra 5 days per week and I use a VED. I was warned to not mix Levitra and the Trimix on the same day.

    I mention that I use Trimix because there are other injectables (cavaject, edex, bimix). Cavaject and Edex are brands of a drug that is pretty powerful, and causes burning for many guys. Trimix and Bimix are combinations of three and two drugs respectively. Trimix and Bimix are usually less of a problem. You must order Trimix and Bimix from a compounding pharmacist .... not a lot of these people left.

    I recommend you start at a low level of Trimix (or any of the injectables) and work your way up. My Dr. started me on 0.1 units and it gave me one of those four hour (plus) erections. I didn't go into the ER ... I had read that taking the original Sudafed and walking up and down the stairs would help .... it did (about 1,000 stairs).... quite a sight as you can imagine!

    I'm currently on 0.03 units of Trimix and it works well ... erection lasts 1.5 hours ... I've fallen asleep and wake up and its still with me. Good to go for several times, if you and your partner choose.

    I use a thin needle (a #30 -- they are used by diabetics I am told). Injections are a snap ... after you do the first one.

    There is one possible bad side effect I know of ... scaring that leads to a radical curvature of the penis ... this does not happen often, but it does happen ... talk to your Dr. ... he'll probable instruct you to inject alternate sides, etc ... I know of one guy who claims to have used injections for seven years (two or three times a week) and has had no problems.

    Cost of Trimix is relatively low. I believe I paid $75 for 5 ml. At 0.03 units per injection, I figure I have about 150 injections. The needles are also relatively cheap, as are the alcohol wipes.

    I am guessing your first injection will be in the Dr.'s office and if there are problems they can handle them right there, and then recommend a change in the dosage.

    We all know that tomorrow (sept 17) is your day. We wish you all the best, and look forward to updates on the surgery. My wife's heart is breaking that you won't have you wife with you, but we understand why it is that that has to be. She said she would volunteer to be there, and as a outstanding nurse, she would be very helpful.

    Just a big thanks for all of the advice and words of encouragement. The Doc is going to have his Physician's Assistant do the education and trial injection in the office in order to tritate the medication. I have to return to work after the office visit, and I sure don't want to return to work at the hospital that employee's me with a 4 hour erection. LOL ! I don't know what type of meds they will use, but I will talk to them about the Trimix, as it seems to be better and maybe a little cheaper than the Caverject. We don't have drug coverage with our health insurance, so spending $462 for 26 doses of Cialis is truly cost prohibitive at this point. This economic downturn and my penile "downturn" just does not work very well at this time in life.
