Hello ladies,
I have been having lot of issues with my insides not working lately. It has been just about a year from my surgery. I finished carbo/taxo amd 'am doing a maintenance dose now. Lately, I can't seem to control the constipation and have been sick to my stomach a lot. I did have a recent CAT scan that showed nothing and my CA125 has stayed at 5. My onc. has referred me to a gastro doc., but I'm not sure where that will lead.
Can anybody relate? Thanks, Froggy

Thanks for the reply, Nancy. I am only on Taxol, not Carbo, but my Doc, feels I should be having no side effects! I have not taken anti-nausea with this round, but maybe I need it!
I have used Zofran and Ativan in the past.

    Hi Froggy,
I've suffered with constipation since I was on carbo/taxol and what I find works for me is prune juice in the AM, Miralax and Colace which are both stool softeners, during the day. I also try to eat lots of fiber.

My oncology nurses had recommended the Miralax and Colace, I added the prune juice.

It's wonderful that your CT scan was clear, and the CA is down to 5, I hope you stay that way forever!

I take a Zofran for occasional n/v even though I'm not on chemo at this time, and it works like a charm.

    Good luck to you,
    Jane

    Miralax
Hi Froggy, try the miralax each morning and then make sure you get all your fluids in for the day. If that doesn't work then add senna to your daily regimen. I think majority of us deal with this ongoing. Hugs Bonnie

    Stomach pain
Thanks Jane and Bonnie for the replies. I have tried a lot of the remedies, but can't seem to get it right! I am having terrible stomach pains and can't figure out why. (I am not constipated now) I'm getting kind of discouraged. This is supposed to be my "good time." LOL Froggy

    adhesions
Dearest Froggy, sometimes it is from the adhesions, or heaven forbid it could be something other than cancer. I hope you have a good internist you can see. I added an internist as my regular doc a few years back and am happy I did. Seek out your regular doc. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie

    Maintenance Taxol
I did the maintenance taxol for 11 months last year. This year I am have diverticulitis (basically sores on the inside of the large intestine) and it is very painful. I use Miralax if I am having constipation troubles but everytime I have an attack of diverticulitis and am put on the antibiotic, I go the other way. Saundra

Thanks for the reply. I am seeing a gastro guy this week. 'Suspecting I may have a diverticulitis type issue as well. Eating is becoming the enemy. 'Have almost constant pain in my upper left intestinal area. I'm not sure this maintenance chemo is worth it, I know the opinions are mixed, but my Doc. seems to think yes in my case. He says right now it is not cancer or chemo causing my problem LOL Hmmmm. Froggy(craving a burrito)

    Constipation
I, too, have a difficult time getting the right combination. I use Miralax every other day and use generic stool softener pills every day. Lots of water helps, too. I have pain regularly in my left lower abdomen. But it is an ongoing issue. It is best you see the specialist just to be sure.
