FIL with Liver Cancer spread to lungs

Hello, my father in law has had a very quick decline in one week. Has been diagnosed with primary Liver cancer, metastasized to the lungs. Two days ago he was put on a respirator because his oxygen levels were too low and heart rate was too high. As a last ditch effort, one of the doctors recommended to try Nexavar. But I do not see any evidence of this drug working on Lung cancer. The family is hoping Nexavar will help but I am worried since my father in law cannot even breathe on his own. I wish someone would level with us whether Nexavar is going to help him, and how long would it take to see results? And is it going to make any difference at all in the lungs? It just seems hopeless to me. I would appreciate any honest opinions, good or bad.
