Received Final Pathology Report Stage 1C: Grade 2
I don't have the grade 3 cell but Grade 2. It's not a mixed type but Endometrial Endometrioid Adenocarcinom with Myometrial Invasion approx 75%. All lymph nodes are negative as well as cervical and the fallopian tubes.
The doctor told me no further treatment is needed!
I tried looking up protocol regarding treatment and it appears that I'm on the border line of radiation. Can anyone tell me where to find more information? I just want to do all that I can to prevent any more problems. Hormone Therapy is out of the question since my Mom is in remission from breast cancer.

1B Grade 2
That's great news. Just keep a very close eye on yourself. Anything unusual call you doctor. My sister's cancer returned after only 6 weeks or so, but she just ignored the problems. She is now just about completed her 25 radiation treatments. So take care.0 -

Congrats that sounds good. Did a gyne onc operate and how many nodes taken? There are guide lines for radiation I think NCCN?? It seems as though some recommend radiation for a grade 2 and when there is over 50% myometrial invasion also if it is in the lower uterine segment. some even have both external radiation and brachy even for grade 1. It seems regional. Where do you live? If you have questions it does not hurt to get a second opinion or even have another path look at the slides...whatever brings peace of mind. blessings.0 -
I was also a stage 1C, grade 2
Although my gyn-onc insists to this day that he believes I was a stage 2B based on his clinical assessment. He felt my tumor had invaded the cervix, while the pathologist found that it had not. To put my mind at ease, I had a second pathologist review the slides, and he agreed with the first.
My tumor was also endometrioid and had invaded approximately 80% of the myometrium. However, I also had a couple of other poor prognostic factors, including a tumor arising in the lower uterine segment and extensive lymph-vascular space invasion. I had both internal and external radiation.
I think when I was diagnosed, radiation was more commonly used for stage 1 endometrial cancer. I would check out the National Comprehensive Cancer Network treatment guidelines for your stage/grade, including any other prognostic factors that might be listed on your pathology report. If it were me, I also would not hesitate to get a second opinion at another facility outside your immediate area. It is surprising to see how opinions can differ on this and many other cancer treatment issues.
Good luck and best of health.

Hi Bonniesue:
I had 10 nodes taken. And 75% myometrial invasion. I live near Clearwater FL and the gyn/onc has a very good rep in this area. He seems to be up-to-date with treatment. I was fortunate enough to have the robotic surgery. I did call my primary care doctor to ask her opinion and I live close to the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. I did contact them and am waiting for a phone call. It's possible that they may have a study that I can participate in.
With previous cancer experiences (my Mom and aunt) I know how important the right treatment is. My concern is it showing up somewhere else. That's what happened to my aunt with lung cancer. Of course, her cancer was very aggressive and it was about 10 years ago and treatment wasn't as good as today's.
Thanks,

Hi Bonniesue:
I had 10 nodes removed all were negative. There was 75% myometrial invasion. I live near Clearwater FL. My doctor has a very good rep but I was surprised when he said no more treatment.
I did make an appointment at the Moffit Center in Tampa, FL for a second opinion. I feel bad getting a second opinion but with other family members having cancer I know how important treatment is to prevent it from coming back.
Moffit could not get me in until Oct 1 but I think that will give me a piece of mind.
Thanks,

Staging and Grade
This is all new to me, but learning a lot and fast. I have a Stage 1C - Grade 3 with 53% of myometrial invasion. I thought the Grade means the amount of myometrial invasion?
Can anyone explain?
I was told I need radition and chemo as well. Although the tumor was contained to the uterus and my lymph nodes were fine, I was told that I need both treatments b/c of the high risk grade 3.
I will be going to Sloane Kettering in New York. I understand they are aggressive in treatment, but I don't want to put my head in the sand and pretend that the cells may not be floating around my body.
Wishing you all the better.0 -

Hi Susie,
I wouldn't feel bad about getting a second opinion, doctors actually welcome it. If they are confident about what they are telling you, it just reinforces their word.
Also check in with the Mayo Clinic in Fla.

I'm not an expert, but I know that a Grade 3 cancer is more likely to recur (come back elsewhere) than a lower grade cancer. My interpretation is that is has to do with the cell shape and how 'alike' the individual cancer calls are to normal cells. At least that is my understanding of it. Grade 3 uterine cancer cell types are usually papillary serous or clear cell. I don't think myonmetrial invasion affects the GRADE of the cancer, but it does affect the Figo STAGE of the cancer.0 -

Glad you have good news. But I "hear you" about the no treatment recommendation. I have stage 3a UPSC and my doc did NOT recommend radiation. I was disconcerting when most others are getting radiation even with lower staging. But I made up my mind to be grateful and positive and so far so good... I wish you the same.
