    Mimi, for such a young
Mimi, for such a young person, you certainly touch many lives with your keen awareness of life and what it means. I admire your spirit, and will always remember your wisdom. It just goes to show you that no matter what age we are, this disease certainly makes us all kindred spirits, as Chen would say, and that we are all on a path that our destiny has chosen for us. An 8:00 PM candle is a true tribute to a fellow board member who brought light and life to those of us who needed a lift at the time, and who heard words that brought us comfort. Danielle was one of the true spirits in my life, and you, Mimi, remain a wonder to me to be so knowledgeable and perceptive at your young age. I consider myself fortunate to be associated with such a group of people, and know that all thoughts will be with Danielle and her family and friends this evening because of a caring soul...you. Hugs,

    Judy

Yes, it will be a nice gesture of remembrance to light a candle. Here is how another survivor on the YSC site describes the concept:

"Candles are not at all about who we knew or who we didn't. It's not territorial, it doesn't have to mean that we're mourning a personal loss, though of course, it can. It's a recognition of the loss we all live with, and that some of us still lose the battle. We honor their battle, and their lives. Some of us believe that we light their way home. Personally, I like to think that before their next destination (whatever that may be) they traverse the earth, free of pain and disease, fully restored to joy, and see the lights we all have that represent that they touched many more lives than they can imagine.

Some people say a prayer, some meditate, some send positive energy, some simply recognize the unity of the moment with each other. It is not symbolic of any religion, though anyone is welcome to personalize it their own way. For each of us, the ceremony (even to call it that over-glorifies it) means something personal. Each woman we light a candle for means something different to each one of us. I think of it as a silent rebellion against the beast, and against the pink machine cranking out false awareness. A silent scream in the night."

You may not agree with everything she says here, but the point is that the ceremony is what you make it. I will be thinking of all of you this evening when I light my candle.

    This Little Light of Mine
It's almost 8:00 PM in Hawaii and I just had a chance to read some of the notes after packing for Oahu. I'm lighting my candle now to send warm tropical wishes for her and prayers for her family.

    Thank you all
Thanks again to Kristen who started this thread and thanks to all who lit a candle. Judy, your words mean so much to me. It's good to know that across all these miles, and even though most of us have never met in person, we can still bring comfort to each other in these times.

I was surprised to see this old post, but, it just verifies how we all are so connected, even if we have never met. We are true sisters! We share a bond that glues us all together forever! A bond that can never be broken! Thank you my dear sisters!
