Day 4 after Davinci

Nick thanks for the daily posts
Thanks for the daily posts. My surgery is the 17th and I am trying to get prepared for just about anything. The reinforcement about the W&W is something I didn't know in the beginning and am really taking to heart.
About the cath, that is one part of my surgery I am looking to be able to post about. My Dr. stopped using the Foley about 4 years ago. They made the change after hundreds of follow-ups with patients who found it to be one of the most aggravating things about surgery.
They use a Foley for the surgery and the one night stay in the hospital. Before leaving the next day it is removed and replaced with a Supra-Pubic Catheter. Simply put, it is a tube through one of the da Vinci incision sites connecting the bladder to the collection bag. I have talked with a few folks who have had this and say there are absolutely no issues with the catheter part of the process.
I haven't seen any posts about it on this or any other forums and looking forward to being able to provide some insight into something new for surgery participants.
Blessings on you and your family for a complete and quick recovery. Additional prayers for a great post op path report.

Sounds like you are doing very well, Nick. Your recovery so far seems to mirror mine. I'm now into my 5th week, and time flies, especially after that catherer comes out. Good luck with your pathology report and your continued healing.
Sorry for the multiple posts. Web site was acting up.0 -

Hi and thanks sonny and novaguy. I am interested to hear about this new catheter even though I wont benefit from it every new thing that helps men go through this I welcome and hope it improves an already tough situation. I will be praying for you sonny and novaguy glad to hear your doing well. One more thing I slept on my side last night with only minor discomfort.Getting up is easier every day. One last thing I have dogs in my house watch them jumping on you with the catheter.....Nick0
