hair dye and diet soda

Hello,
After my nephrectomy this summer I decided I needed to make some
changes in order to strenghten my chances of avoiding a
recurrence. I didn't have the risk factors for kidney cancer
that are typically listed, but I have been trying to drink more
water and eat more vegetables and things like that. I also decided
it would probably be good to stop coloring my hair and drinking
diet sodas. I see on this website, however, that diet drinks and
hair dyes are apparently safe. Now I am wondering if maybe I
overreacted. I was wondering if anyone else has stopped consuming
these products, and also, what other changes in diet or
lifestyle others are making in order to stay heathy.
Thanks.
Jane
