DES Exposure

DES was prescribed routinely
DES was prescribed routinely between the years 1938-1971, and the National Cancer Organization says it SLIGHTLY raises the risk of the DES daughters getting BC over the age of 40. The risk was put at 1.9% higher than women over 40 who's mothers did not take DES.
I hope this helps to answer your question.

Valuable information. I have been told by my onc I did not do anything, take anything or eat anything to cause my breast cancer. Maybe I am naive. Why me is a question that all of us ask. What have I done, who have I pissed off. just a few questions that I have asked myself - lately.
Thyroid cancer late teens, cervical cancer late 20's .. now breast cancer. I realize that I have the cancer gene running wild in my body. It's a hard pill to swallow.

It is indeed a hard pill...and there is no way you pissed anyone off. This isn't a retribution for anything. I hope you don't spend too much time contemplating that~ if meanness, and bad Karma were the requirements for getting cancer, you would NOT be on the list!
I think the fact that so many of us ask "why me" and try and figure out just who is angry at us, and what we did to deserve this actually proves that we didn't deserve it at all!!!!! If you were a serial killer, or a a swindler, an arsonist, well heck yeah! We would know what we did to get cancer.
But look at who you have found yourself in good company with~ have you ever met a more empathetic, NON-deserving of cancer group of women in your life than all of us here on the boards????? And you are one of US~ the good guys!
A stinkin raw deal you got with 3 cancers to be sure. But I am happy to have met you, anyway; and you are an encouragement to so many in here.

I just pray that in my lifetime, I will see the cure for cancer. I am having my doubts.
