12 weeks of taxol

I will be starting taxol once a week for twelve weeks after my A/C treatments (one left). Has anyone done this schedule? How long does the taxol run for? Do you get a Nulestin shot after each treatment? Thanks and God bless you all!

    I took eight weeks of Taxol and found them to be fairly easy. I did continue to feel tired, but the other side affect was pain in my joints. The pain usually started in my neck about 2 days after by Taxol and the shot and then the pain went into my shoulders. I really never had any pain in my lower body. I could control it with Aleve. I do have some tingling in my fingers which is normal. It did take longer to receive the Taxol-about 3 hours because it must be administered slowly. You can do it. Blessings, Cindy

    I just had ac every 2 wks x 4 and just started taxol/herceptin last friday. I can tell you compared to ac it is a cake walk, though I didnt think so on friday. I still had the neulasta shot after chemo. I was tired on day 2 and slept alot and had alot of pain in my joints, lower legs, ankles and feet. I tried to take 400mg ibuprofen but really needed to take 800mg 3 times per day on day 2 and 3. I actually even worked 1/2 day on monday which I never could do with ac and worked 8 hours today which I havent done since I was diagnosed.

    It is so much easier for me anyway.

    Taxol Treatments
    I never had A/C treatment, but I did have Taxol for about 6 months. They had to give me benedryl before the Taxol could be administerd because it can cause severe allergic reations. They also had to give me some sort of steroid along with it. I was really tired, achy, and naustious about the 3rd day after treatment. I was told that the affects were actually 10 days delayed, but I'm pretty sure that I was feeling affected 3 days later. Of course there is also the loss of hair, but that's pretty typical. Hang in there! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

    I'm currently on a weekly
    I'm currently on a weekly schedule of Taxol. . .I have FAC after the taxol treatment is done. I haven't had any nausea. But, I think the weekly schedule just kind of wears a person down - or at least it has for me. I have intermittent neuropathy - but nothing too terribly bad. I don't get any type of shot after the taxol - but the hospital does admin some type of steroid for the first 15 minutes of my drip - then the taxol for 1 hour.

    HI PRV, I had taxol every other week for eight weeks last summer. I was given benedryl, so I slept through the treatments. I had Neulasta for the A/C, but was able to give myself Neupogen shots for the Taxol. Neupogen is a lot less expensive. I think it was one shot a day for three or four days after chemo. Where I live is very rural and I needed to have the shots on the weekend; that's why I gave them to myself. It's a lot like how diabetics give themselves shots and it is not painful. I remember that I developed "hand -foot syndrome" about the time I started Taxol, but it was from the Adriamycin. It is preventable...keep your hands and feet moist with Aveeno, don't let them get hot (use tepid water), and avoid friction. I am sure that others on this board will have a schedule similar to yours. xoxoxoxo Lynn

    I had 4 cycles of A/C (one
    I had 4 cycles of A/C (one every three weeks) before surgery. After surgery I had 4 cycles (one every three weeks) of taxotere. I only had one shot the next day when my counts were down a little. The taxotere was clear stuff and dripped into the IV (I didn't have a port). The nurse sat and watched me the first time to see if I had a reaction. I did and they had to slow down the drip. So what should have been fairly fast (like an hour) turned into two or three. I don't remember now. This was back in 2003/2004 so they might have changed things since then. Hope all goes well and soon you will be done!
