Howdy
Hi Lizzy. That is so sweet of you to think of me. This last round of chemo was harder on me than the last ones so I haven't been posting on the boards. Just very tired and ache all over. Plus, I'm coming down with a cold - go figure. I think because my immune system is so low, I've caught what the kids had. It's a bummer not being able to take anything to help it along. Now my favorite part of the day is bedtime
I'm hoping you are enjoying your summer. We've had a cold one here in MI. Seems like most of the weekends are either in the 60's or low 70's and raining.
How are you doing? Let me know how you are feeling.

GOOD
I figured the treatments were getting harder on you, but still wondered what had happened. I was going to PM you, but Lizzy opened the post, so we waited.
Glad it is nothing catastrophic with you right now.
Sounds like a great summer up there....been in the 99-100 since May...still real hot today. Would love to switch w/you
I pm'd Lizzy about you...but have not heard from her...she will be so glad you posted.
Take care, Kim

Hi Kim, Glad to hear from you. I know how that chemo wipes me out too.
Nothing but rest will do for me. 1-2 hours of snoozing in the afternoon and then I am ready to clean the house.
I went in for Round 6 Chemotherapy on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. My husband & I were both surprised to hear the Oncologist tell us that he will discontinue the IV Chemotherapy and begin Chemotherapy with the pill form, Xeloda. He also gave me a week off of Chemotherapy which makes me so happy. It will give my body a chance to restore itself. The IV chemotherapy has been harsh on my body but I keep remembering it is killing the cancer. My hair is really thinning and becoming hard to hide the fact. At least it will grow back. I am anxious about the Xeloda treatment. I hope it is easier on my body. My rash and hives have disappeared and I believe it was the Leucovrin.
The weather has been so nice in Upstate South Carolina for the past 2 days. The temp has been in the 70s in the early morning and late evenings. During the day it is in the 80s. This is the best weather! Fall is in the air.0 -

So glad that you are able to take that chemo break. I think our bodies need it more than we think we do. I know I was bummed when I had to miss a week, but I felt so much better that third week. Couldn't believe the difference. Now I am every three weeks anyway because of blood counts.
I was on the Xeolda for six weeks before my surgery. I never knew I had taken it and it didn't give me any side effects what so ever. Much easier to take in pill form anyway. My hair has thinned out too, but I do see some of it growing back. My hair is so thin anyway no one would really know a difference.
Sounds like you are hanging in there. Keep it up girl.

Thanks Craig for your thoughts. Yup, you warned and told me that the longer I went the harder it would be, but this one was totally harder. Feeling a little better today, but I'm sure this cold is a big culprit in the achy, blah feeling. I start my shots again this weekend, so hopefully that will help boost my immune system and start getting rid of this cold. It just tanks so fast when I get the chemo.
Hey I'd take your 99 degree weather. I'm always so cold anyway that 90+ would feel good. I turned on my fireplace the other day because it was only 63 in the house and I was freezing. Now that is bad in August
Hope you are feeling well!

I am feeling real good about the break. Thanks for the info on Xeolda. That makes me feel better. I hope I do as well as you with no side effects.
My best,
Lizzy0
