Tonia, I have not...
been through what you are enduring just now, but there was a time when my children were 12 and 1 that breast cancer hit (me), and then hit again 1 1/2 years later. I know what you mean about not allowing yourself to ball up in a corner and leave your children to face this crisis on their own. We moms (and dads) get on with it because we know our kids are watching how we handle things and taking their cues from us. We can't let them down. Your efforts will not go unrewarded. Your children will become stronger, wiser individuals because of the example you are setting for them now.

I could've written your post myself. My husband died on July 16, after a 9 month battle with a rare cancer. He died 3 weeks after his 40th birthday. We have a 3 year old son and it's baffling to think that my husband won't be around for our futures.
Like you, I have my good days and people are amazed that I'm even functioning. Honestly, when you have young kids, I don't think you have any other choice. I, too, have days when I can't even get of my own way. I'm just so sad and miserable. My husband was truly one of a kind. He was the love of my life and my best friend. Now, at 32, I'm alone. Cancer is heartbreaking.
I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. Feel free to contact me if you'd like.
