So this is over the counter? I've never heard of it. I'll look for it tomorrow.
Thanks,

Trazadone

Trazadone is a prescribtion medication. It actually is in the Anti Depresent family. I take 100 mg with Clonazapam at night. You need to tell your Dr that you are having sleep problems, maybe he/she will prescribe it for you. It is safe to take with other sleep aids so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hi there,
I had a terrible time sleeping - especially when going through chemo. I would sleep for an hour then wake up and be totally awake. Nothing I could do. I did try melatonin which is an over the counter supplement here in Canada. It worked pretty well but as always, consult your oncologist before doing anything.

On weekends I could not take naps or I couldn't sleep at night, but last night a took an ambienand a vicodin and that helped but today I am walking around like a zombie, not good.
Try reading and some chamomile tea. Hope you get to sleep soon, it's the mind that won't shut down.0 -
Sleep
I used to take Trazadone and it really helped. Then my dr. put me on Xanac and I sleep all night..thru thunderstorms and parties next door. It all depends on what your dr. feels is best. Not sure My med is right for you.

Sleep
Hello there:
I've had real problems with sleep for the past several years, for instance it interfered with me being able to stay at work all day on a couple of occasions. I was on Restoril (temazepam). Now I'm on Ambien CR and Trazadone (like some of these other people mentioned). I was on 50mg and I asked my oncologist to go up on it and he did - to 150mg per night. This combination doesn't "knock me out" - nothing really knocks me out anymore, but it has helped. Trazadone is an older medication, primarily used as an anti-depressant, but if you read about it, it is also prescribed for insomnia. Right now, I'm off chemotherapy and the longer I'm off the better my sleep is getting - I don't know what it is about chemotherapy and interfering with some people's sleep. Hope you get some relief soon. Take care. Roy0 -
Thanks for all your answers
I really appreciated the suggestions. My onc doesn't believe in sleeping pills or anti-depression pills. I tell him every two weeks, that I'm sleeping less and less each night. He tells me to get up and read. Well, if I start reading a book, I don't go to sleep I just keep reading until I finish the book. I've always been like that, though. If I find a good book, I just can't put it down.
Thanks again,
Debbie0
