    HI lisa
I just finished with AC and will start taxol/herceptin next wk. Its not a cake walk but you can do it. Just remember to push alot of fluids, make yourself eat small and eat often. Take the nausea meds that they give you. THey probably will put some in the iv. You will probably be tired for a few days after. I had mine on friday and today is wed and I am feeling much less tired. TAke naps if you can the first few days and dont push yourself.

Above all, post often because we are all here to help you thru it

    Hugs

Just finished my first chemo. three hours ago.
    Lisa,

I was terrified, but I just finished my first chemo. three hours ago and honestly it was a piece of cake - ok not nearly as enjoyable :-). The only side effect I am having thus far has been alternating between being cold and hot (sweaty). However, I get my Neulasta shot tomorrow and hear that may be more of a challenge so stay ahead of it with Motrin, etc. The nurse said I won't notice much until the third, fourth, and fifth day. Just lay back, try to sleep, and take advantage of snacks, drinks, etc. offered. I brought a blanket, pillow, a little snacks, water, and a book and used them all. They even suggested bringing lunch for you will be there awhile. Take a breath, anxiety is normal, especially the first time. Tell the nurse this is your first time and you are anxious. Good luck and I pray all goes well tomorrow. Know we are thinking about you!

    Take care,

    Cathy

    Lisa, good luck tomorrow. AC
Lisa, good luck tomorrow. AC can be tough but if they give you good anti-nausea meds it is doable. For the first couple days after each treatment I ate only bananas, applesauce, and toast. Anything heavier caused me to throw up

Good luck, you will be fine.

Good luck on starting your chemo. I started mine last week and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I took the advice of all these wonderful ladies and drank lots of water. We'll all be thinking about you. Take care and good luck!

    first chemo
Sorry for the delay. I work nights 815-630 and then went to walmart to stock up on suggested items, chemo, then my primary care dr and just got home. I am exhausted, but probably since I have been up since 5pm yesterday. I so appreciate the replies. I read about bananas and bought some today. I drank water so far and will listen to all the advice. Nuelasta shot 9am tomorrow. Stocked up on claritan although my onco is not sold on it. I am only allowed to take tylenol, so hope it helps. They gave me compazine and zofran, insurance only allows 12 pills of zofran a month...I do not go back to work until Monday night so hoping i will make it.
Thanks all you are awesome. Gotta rest for now :-)

    Lisa,
glad your first chemo went fine so far! Keep drinking that water and keep up on your anti nausea meds even when you don't feel like you're going to get sick-just like when you have to take pain pills-you've got to keep upon it!!

I awakened queasy in the night. Trying to find something that will sit well, not bananas, but sour dough pretzel nuggets...need better nutrition. I had my nuelasta shot then went to the store to buy somr food that looked appetizing, so we'll see.
Thanks for the tips and encouragement.
