Hello
My husband had the same kind of Leukemia as you. APL, he was diagnosed July 08'. He relapsed in his spinal fluid but his marrow stayed clear of any sign of Leukemia. He just had an autologous bone marrow transplant two days ago.
While as you know the Autologous transplant and the Allogenic are different I can give you some info on the experience he had/has with the BMT. APL is the most curable type of AML. Where are you getting the BMT done? If you didnt know this, there is a doctor in Chicago he specializes in APL. His name is Dr. Tallman at Northwestern. My husband got his BMT done at the University of Minnesota and his doc conferred with this Dr.Tallman on the best treatment plan for him. For my husbands treatment, I can say as a witness of the autologous transplant is, it sounds alot worse than it is. And remember this may cure you and its well worth it. I will try to answer any questions you have..you can even email me if you like. Please let me know.0
