I just want to thank everyone on here. You have been a huge source of support and inspiration while I await my surgery and diagnosis. You girls keep it "real". You tell the truth (even when it's ugly) and honestly share your experiences. If the biopsy comes back as cancer, I feel so much more equipped to deal with it after having been to these boards and read your words. I also know that I will have a much needed support group here. And if it comes back benign...I will still never forget the things I've learned. I will probably still stop by to keep up on everything. You have helped me to understand what my gma went through 26 years ago when she had chemo for her breast cancer. Unfortunately treatment wasn't what it is now and she passed away that summer.

My surgery is wednesday and I am very anxious for it. I went to visit my sister in ohio this last week and had a great time. While we were there we got the news that her best friend was cancer free. She had been waiting on uterine biopsy results for two weeks. We were thrilled! But wednesday night we ate dinner out and then went to play putt putt. It was a large 18 hole course with stairs and hills and shortly into it I began cramping (like menstrual cramps only worse) and low back pain. By the time we finished I was nearly in tears but I still won. Haha. Determination is everything! Unfortunately the cramps didn't go away and I missed the waterpark the next day. I'm hoping the surgery puts all this to rest.

As for the surgery...any advice? They are removing the one ovary and it's "friends" the cyst and nodule and removing some uterine tissue also for biopsy. I should have results on friday. How did anyone feel after surgery? How long did it take you to recover? I know some of you had much more major surgeries then mine. I'm hoping to feel much better by the 28th as my entire family (parents, sister & family, our kids) are going to myrtle beach for vacation and I refuse to miss out. Even if I only get to sit on the beach and watch the ocean! Mentally and spiritually I need this vacation.

Thanks again to eveyrone. I was so happy to see some good news on the board today...and saddened by the trials some are facing. You guys amaze me.

I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

I must tell you that I still don't get your doctor. Since you're not planning to have any more children, I don't understand why this doctor, or a GYN/ONC surgeon is not doing a complete hysterectomy. If there is any chance this ovary may be cancerous, what about the other ovary, or uterus in the future?

In 1983 my then GYN did a hysterectomy, but left one ovary because he "didn't want to put me into premature menopause."
Well, that "healthy" ovary became the cancer one 2 1/2 years ago..

That's still my feeling, but I wish you good luck, the best of health, and that your surgery is uneventful.

    one more question
I remembered that you had said your doctor didn't want to do the CA125 until you were in the hospital, because in case it was above the normal range, she didn't want to "upset you".
Has the test been done yet, or is she still holding off?

The CA is of course another piece of the puzzle for doctors to consider in possible OVCA.

Please trust me, I'm not being a jerk, I've been reading these boards for 2 1/2 years and I've gained information and unfortunately gotten an education on OVCA.

Once again, good luck and good health.

    Oh Jane!
I would never think you were being a jerk for giving me advice drawn from experience!! I appreciate your concern and respect your opinion. You gals are "in the trenches" so to speak and know, quite possibly, more then many doctors. She told me that if it was cancer she wanted a specialist to do the hysterectomy and debulking. And there is not one around here. I don't know if she is thinking that she can at least get in and get that ovary and cyst out quicker then I could get an appt with a specialist? And if it is cancer...that would speed up getting a specialist appt? Had anything else so far come back suspicious (like the ct scan) I would have insisted on waiting for the specialist. I don't want you to think I'm taking this lightly...indeed it weighs heavy on my mind alot. I had to start a "secret" blog to get the feelings out without stressing my friends and family.

And it may not be the right course of action...but right now I just want the damn thing gone so that I'm not in so much pain and so irritable(from the pain) all the time. I feel like it's robbing me of my friendly happy personality. =[

I will keep you posted and if it turns out to be cancer...I will be seeking tons of advice again.

We are both in the same position it seems but you are leading the way, hopefully my exploratory surgery will be soon. I wish you all the best with yours on Wednesday, many prayers coming your way from myself and the others on this board I'm sure.

Know when they are wheeling you down the hall to your surgery that we are all with you in spirit. Hope this all goes away with that ovary and tissue and you can start on a healthy life right then.

Much love and big hugs. Blessings, Bluerose

    Hi!

I had my right ovary removed in June. When your in the hospital and you stand up for the first time, it's pretty rough, but the more you get up and walk the better. I would say I had two or three days after I got out of the hospital that I was still pretty sore. As long as your not moving it's ok, but getting up and sitting down hurt for a few days. You will be tired feeling for a few weeks. A trip to the beach sounds great! You should be up for it by thenn.
