DO DOGS CAUSE CANCER!!!!OR MAKE I WORSE!

Hey. I have a question in reguards on what you think or if you can help me with any information! I have a friend that has Uterine Cancer and now has to go through Kemo. she thinks that by keeping her dogs in the house (which she did up until this point) should be put outside becuase she thinks the dogs will make her sick becuase her immunine system will be lowered. These dogs are up to date on all shots and have always been house dogs. I have read that Dogs can sniff cancer.
But my questions is is there any REAL EVIDENCE that dogs cause cancer...? Besides Breast Cancer??

    My acupuncturist states that his teacher owns two dogs that he uses in his practice to sniff out cancer with high success. I'm a great believer of alternative medicine...so I may just be bias in believing him. I know my own dog acted strangely leading up to my diagnosis; cervical ca. She literally became my shadow. After surgery and during treatments she was glued to me, often causing near mishaps as I experienced inner ear damage from the chemo and I would turn around to take a step and trip over her. Several weeks ago I started experiencing intermittent chest pain with pain and numbness in L arm (refused to break down and see the doc) and she started clinging to me again. Even when I go into the bathroom she follows. She pushes open the door and then lays down right there waiting for me. I did breakdown and finally go to the doc...pulmonary obstruction. Started on meds last night and got up this am without chest pain in weeks...no dog hoovering next to me this am.

    My dog stayed with me
    My dog stayed with me during my six chemo treatments. The cat slept on the sofa with me. I did not pet them and my husband gave the dog his baths. I read in the American Cancer Society book to wash your hands for 20 seconds after petting or touching the pets. I did not take any neulasta or neupogen and white count came up on its own with the pets in the house. If you have cats you are not suppose to empty the litter box.

    Interesting.....my dog has been like that too....can't go anywhere w/o him under-foot...at least since the surgery....one of my cats...much more spookey...he started laying on my tummy at night a couple of weeks before the problems even started (he didn't ever do that - near me maybe, but never on top). when he decides he wants to be on top of me, I know that there is something really wrong.

    Haven't started chemo yet....and live alone....is cleaning the litter box really that big of a deal?

    my dog...
    my dog has been with me constantly since i came home from my surgery. through chemo and radiation she has been by my side almost non stop until we went on vacation a couple of weeks ago. i also have a cat that is inside/outside that sits on my lap and i pet her a lot. i did not clean her litter box during treatment. i gave my dog baths and everything. i did not wash my hands after each time that i pet them. i successfully made it through 25 external, 3 internal radiation and 6 chemotherapy treatments. I had 2 of the chemos postponed due to low WBC counts and the only infection i had was a urinary tract infection. i think some of the warnings about pets are "old school." the only thing i was ever told was to not clean the cat's litter box. in my uneducated opinion, if you are an animal lover, your pet is going to more good for your health than harm. i would however talk to your doctor about the litter box. you might have to ask a friend or relative to help you out with that.
