Surgery on July 28
Came home on Thursday. I did not have reconstruction as I am going with what I have left. Only two shots of morphine in the hospital and I was sent home with Lorcet, but only had three of those. Yesterday afternoon and today I have only needed Advil. Went to Wal-Mart this morning and a birthday party this afternoon. Of course I was not gone very long at either one. I have hardly any soreness in the right arm, which I thought was supposed to be the worst one , since the surgeon took some lymph nodes.
Should have path reports on Monday so will know treatment then. Maybe lymph was clear.
Just think----The Cancer is Gone!!

Hi Deb
Yeah its great when the surgery is over with and you that the cancer is gone. It sounds like it went really well for you. I am so glad your pain is minimal. Do you have any drains in or didnt they need to do any?
Let us know how the lymphnodes were and what your next steps are going to be.

Yes I have 3 drains. I just keep them in a tube sock.
They don't seem to make me as hot in there.0 -

Had trouble getting back on to talk with you. I had bilateral mastectomy in May, had 2 drains. Had expanders in for reconstruction but had some problems with the right side where the cancer was. That one had to be removed 1 month later. Left was clear. I was in a binder for about 6 weeks. Now its chemo. I had my 3rd session of 8 every other week yesterday and so far just a little tired today.
Dont be afraid to use the pain meds though if you feel uncomfortable. Best to stay ahead of it.

a tube sock! Would have never thought of that! Having gone through surgery(and that much surgery) without much pain-wonderful!But yes,do keep up on your pain meds anyways. With my lumpectomy and then partial mastectomy,I hardly had any pain also. Even came to the dinner table the night of my partial and ate with my husband and inlaws-they were surprised(but hey,I felt pretty good!).
Do listen to your body and rest a lot! Have others do for you.Remember-no lifting!!0 -

Glad everything went so well for you. You may feel well, but try not to overdo it as your body needs to heal. Sometimes we get antsy and feel toooo good, so just be careful. Please be sure to let us know how Monday goes. (:-) Pammy
Wow! Sounds like it is going so well with you, which is wonderful. I love your positive attitude too. Its really important to try to stay that way. I am mostly positive, but started to freak out a little because i start my chemo in two days. I hope your labs turn out good for you and try to take it easy a little and dont push too hard, your body still needs time to heal even though you feel ok. Good luck to you.

Deb,
Welcome (sorry for my late reply)! I am so happy you are recovering so well! Remember to not overdo and get your rest. I always push myself when I feel better and then pay later.. it's not fun to go backwards, so behave and get your rest.
