Hi Libby: You will be just ahead of me as I go back on Thurs. So happy to hear the CA125 is going down. Isn't it amazing how our lives have changed to "looking at numbers"? Good luck on Monday and I will be praying for you and all my friends on this site.
Jean
Hi Libby: Wondered how you made out on Mon. with your second treatment? I was there today. My white count finally went up on its own from 900 to 2900 in one week. They are going to start the Neulasta next Thurs. after my treatment. How have the side effects been this time?
Anxious to hear from you.

Exciting news, but let mejean b said:Good news and bad news.
Had my bloodwork yesterday in preparation for Chemo #2 of Gemzar and Cisplatin. White cell count was a little low, but not dangerously low. They will recheck it tomorrow before my treatment. Dr. said it usually comes back pretty quickly. But the good news is that my CA125 went from 121 to 43 in one treatment. Iam so excited and now all the blahs have made it worth it.

Exciting news, but let me first give some of my experience with low white cell count and neulasta shots since I seem to be further along in my treatments then others (just starting my 6th set). My white and red have stayed low just at the mark for too low through out my treatment. This has not given me any trouble, maybe alittle more fatigue. I have gotten neulasta shots every 3rd week and have had no problems with them.
Now for my good news. My CA1125 has gone from 568 to 35...my dr. wanted me below 40 YIPEE! My Cat Scan came back clean (BIG SMILE ON MY FACE) What the dr. saw before is gone now. I will probable have to have 2 more sets of chemo then I may be done.
I went on a trip to visit my best friend (since the 4th grade, I am now 48), and had a great time. We worked with her horses and I even helped her clean the barn and change out their water every day for a week and didn't run out of energy. I realized I am healthier than I thought I was, and I just felt awful here because of all the stress I am under due to my husband leaving me and then not helping me financially. I am so happy to have realized this and understand in my heart that I can beat this thing. Thanks so much for being their everyone. YOUR ARE THE BEST!! Anita0 -

Hi Jean,
Well I started #2a Monday and had to take Zofran that same night. Tuesday had my Neulasta and watched my granddaughter for 9 1/2 hours Wednesday with the flu like symptoms most of the day. Still sore muscles today, but did not take Zofran today. I expect the rest of the 7 days I will be myself with a little stomach aching. Seems to be my routine now.
Oh yes, this time I did get the roof of my mouth burnt by the chemo Monday. That is the only thing I can think of that caused that!!
My white count was 1700, so that was excellent for me before chemo (was probably a little lower by the time I had chemo). That shot sure does work though!!
I am already thinking about Monday, August 24th and that is not like me!! This chemo regime seems to bother me more than before (last year with taxol/carbo). Maybe because it is so often and I take both gemzar and cisplatin everytime. Gemzar 1530 mg in 250 ml NS over 30 minutes to 1 hour and Cisplatin 46 mg in 250 ml NS + 12.5 Mannitol and 1 gm Mg sulfate over 1 hour.
I also have 8 mg Zofran prior, decadron 20 mg prior, 25 mg benadryl prior, hydrate with 250 ml NS over 1 hr. prior and ethyol 500 mg in 50 ml .9 NS over 5-10 minutes 15 minutes before chemo. Then chemo and then post hydrate after chemo with 250 ml NS over 1 hour.
I think anymore I am floating...........................Also, my hair IS getting thinner and thinner............................................
Love you,

Hi Libby: Been thinking about you for the last few days. I had #2 on Thurs. (gemzar and Cisplatin) after finally geting my white count back up. I'm due for gemzar only on Thurs. followed by Neulasta shot. Sounds lie you are tolerating this lots better than me. I only had a red face the day afterwards ut Sat. I was miserable with stomach cramps and nausea. Took every medication I had. Feel a little better this am but got the shakes. I agree with you about worrying, you don't get much of a break in between. I guess as long as it is working we should be thankful. Thanks for keeping in touch.

Hi Libby, I chew on icechips or sip something very cold during infusion ~ learned that trick while on doxil. Maybe that will help with the roof of the mouth. Prayers ♥ Hugs Bonnie0 -

Any new comments on Gemzar and Cisplatin?
Hope all are doing well and those CEA125 numbers are low!
I'm new to this blog.
Thanks
As I was part of that thread, I can say that I became allergic to cisplatin and now am back on carboplatin with the gemzar.
Still having difficult time staying on schedule even with the Neumega, Neulasta shots. Did not have chemo yesterday. Looking once again for another cocktail.
Thanks,

How did your count go from 568 to 35? How did the Doc do that? My soulmate's count is around 1300 she's on Hexalen and has been taking it now for 3 cycles? Thoughts? I'm glad to hear you're doing well.
