Thanks Mimimimivac said:Another update
Apparently, her appointment was this morning. No word yet on the results. Also, I wanted to let people know that there is a charity run by a young breast cancer survivor that helps other survivors through gift certificates to restaurants, clothing stores, etc. I know this is a great help to those who have to travel for treatment and are not independantly wealthy (pretty much all of us). There is a drive now to raise some money for Young One's expenses through this charity. I will post this information here as I get it. No need to say whether you want to contribute or not. I'll just post and let people decide anonymously. No pressure. Just a nice thing, if you are inclinced and can afford to.

Young_one remains in my prayers. And thanks for letting us know about her apt. and about the charity.

I do have an update on her. When I first wrote, she had been hospitalized to a local hospital in her rural home town. She needed a major cancer center, but was too weak to travel. Fortunately, some well-connected friends on another board got her an appointment with a breast cancer specialist who deals with young womena and very aggressive cancers. She recovered enough to travel for the appointment. She and her family will be staying with her mother for a few weeks to receive care at this cancer center. I will check the other board for more updates and let you guys know. Thanks so much for the interest and well wishes. I know she can feel all the love pouring in.

Mimi, I am so grateful to hear this news about Young One. I have been thinking of her and her fiery spirit so much. I am relieved, but not surprised, that she rallied and was strong enough to be taken to a bc specialist at a cancer center. She needs a medical team as determined as she is.
Yes, please give us more information as you have it. Fighting cancer is so expensive, probably even the independently wealthy become less so.
Thank you, again, Mimi.0 -
Charity info
Some of you asked for this info, so I am posting here. The charity is called Breast Cancer Sisterhood: http://www.breastcancersisterhood.com/ and is federally certified as a non-profit organization. It was started by a young breast cancer survivor (Debbie Cantwell). Here is what she says about donations for Young_One (Danelle):
"I'll send 100% of the money donated in Danelle's honor directly to her family in the form of grocery or restaurant gift cards. I'll also send her a card letting her know of your donation. And a receipt for your tax records. Also, anyone who donates to my charity gets a Breast Cancer Sisterhood grocery tote bag free! Gift cards and donation cards will be sent to Danelle immediately. Tote bags and receipts probably this weekend or next week. (It's the part of the charity that takes the most time and I get the most backed up with.) Also, I like to list the names of my donors on the website (in association with the woman honored) unless you prefer to be anonymous. Just let me know."
I will update you as soon as I hear anything about Young One's appointment today. Thanks so much everyone.

Another update
Danelle was seen at the hospital today. Apparently, she had a serious infection at the port site. They have removed the port and are waiting for the infection to clear up before they decide on next steps for her cancer treatment. Here's hoping things only get better from here.
