MY destination tonight...ER!!
Went to work in this brutal heat, I was soaked within the hour. NO A/C. I am scheduled for my chemo port at 7 tomorrow morning. Left work early to go home and just relax with the pups. Went to take a shower, my incision burst and "icky" spewed all over. Well, guess I had an infection, called the DR. on call and went to the ER. So, now I have a wick in place taking care of the "icky".
I am so afraid that they aren't going to do the procedure tomorrow because of this. I was in tears at the hospital, feeling low, because I do not want any set backs!! I want to get this all going. Well, on the bright side of things....my breast matches my nails...red!! Washing machine is going at this wonderful hour of midnight, taking care of the "icky" in the household. Bleach anyone????? Love, Carlie

Oh My Goodness~ this was
Oh My Goodness~ this was really not part of the game plan, was it? Icky yukky indeed! It seems though that your attitude is really good, all things considered! Did the ER doc give you any indication as to whether he thought your surgeon would do the port? Or is there at least a call in ? Or do you have to go and hope for the best??
How wonderful that your breast matches your nails...I guess! LOL Leave it to you to look on the bright side!
Let us know what happens; we are all thinking of you and wish you a sppedy recovery from the icky-stuff!

Hi- I am so sorry to hear of what you had to go through tonight. Hopefully you can still get the port tomorrow. I had one and it is great! I totally understand the set backs, I had quite a few and it wasn't easy to deal with but hopefully by going to the ER and them knowing what was in store for you tomorrow you are all set. Good luck!0 -

First let me say i really hope all goes well for you. Second, Wow, now there's something I don't think any of us have read before. I am so sorry, that must have scared the H out of you. I hope your port goes in as I know that any changes in the game plan just causes more stress. Hugs0 -

That would have scared me too. You are a brave one. Hugs.
Continue to try to keep your head up. I developed an infection in both breasts after my mastectomy and keeflex took care of it thank goodness. Just another mountain you will have to climb through your battle. You will make it and soon get over that mountain. Good luck, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi woodsygal
I had bilateral mastectomy in may and developed a wound and while my didnt burst the day my port was to be placed the wound had a yellow center and red edges. My plastic surgeon actually opened it up before the port was placed the same day and packed it with packing and I still had my port placed on the opposite side...
The only problem was that my oncologist wouldnt start chemo until the wound was healed so I ended up having the expander removed so will need reconstructionn later... but I did start my chemo about 2 wks later
Let us know how things are going and hang in there

OMG!!!
Hey, are you alright? Are you feeling any better? Sounds like something out of that alien movie.
I hate set-backs too but you don't want that infection to spread which that could happen if they open you up. Hopefully you will make a speedy recovery in time for you port.
Take care of yourself and keep us updated.
