I cannot sleep tonight....But am thinking that maybe I am too positive about things! I haven't gotten a lot of people writing me.Is that normal here?

    Positive
Being positive is a wonderful thing. That is what has gotten me through my journey so far.

For people writing--sometimes people like myself have to think of what they want to say before they write so it comes out correctly.

Sometimes people get in a funk and only read and don't write because they don't want to bring others down.

    Now Woodsy,
Please don't even think that way! As far as writing you, what do you mean private messaging or responding?
Your positivity gives the rest of us a boost when we are not feeling so positive, and you will probably have your up and down days later on just like the rest of us. So you keep on with that positivity for as long as you feel it-hopefully for a very long time, and enjoy it!

Too positive causing lack of sleep? That was too cute for words! We're really glad you are positive, just know that sometimes our answers overlap onto other peoples threads! I was wondering if you happened to see how we noticed that there is a Woodsygal AND an OutdoorGirl, and if you two have things in common! :-)

Keep that positive attitude, and be sure and post to those threads you find thought-provoking as well! We have open arms and open hearts in here, and we welcome the camaraderie we get from weighing in all over the place! We deal with the serious, the mundane, tell jokes, post pictures, we laugh and cry together.

I am sorry you had trouble sleeping; so many of us in here find that cancer treatment has altered our sleep patterns. Which is another thing about these boards; there is always something to read and write about, no matter what time it is! I love that!!!

    Hey Woodsygal,

You made a comment about maybe I'm too positive. In the beginning of my journey I was very careful to make sure I was TOTALLY positive with friends and family...whenever a crack showed up one person in particular was there to let me know "I just had to stay positive"! What I have learned is that...yes staying positive is good for me and for others, but letting myself be human and trusting friends and family to deal with the ups and the downs and everything inbetween is really where its at.

In the beginning when I would start to crack...some people would say "oh..we thought you were doing so well". Now its the cracks that help me do so well.

Don't worry about being 'too' anything....everyone has there own way to moving down this pathway...as for responses...know that you are being heard, thought of, and that stopping by often will provide great resources to help you on the journey.

One can never be too positive!!! Normally, we do not write to any one particular person, rather we post a topic to all collectively. If you are refering to responses....well, sometimes I recieve 5 and sometimes it will be 25. Hang in there. We are not ingoring you. We are glad you found us!! :) Pammy

    Sleeplessness...
Is, unfortunately, very common amongst all of us. As you'll see, as you continue reading the threads.

Positivity is an important asset while traveling the journey, is welcomed and celebrated here. Not sure if it's possible to be TOO positive! However, please know that you're encouraged to honestly share anything and everything you may be feeling - including the negative. Per Jojo's post. Hey - we ALL have those "moments"... This is a safe zone. Express yourself comfortably.

As far as "a lot of people writing"... Please don't be concerned. Everyone cannot possibly post to every thread - we'd have time for nothing else! And, we all "work" the board differently, I'm sure. The more you post yourself, more will get to know you. Not everyone logs on daily. Many members read regularly, and barely post at all. With time, you'll learn these types of things for yourself. Maybe jump into other member's threads, too.

Visit often, whenever you may like or need to.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get responses. I am one of the few who don't seem to have trouble sleeping so the wee hours of the morning I'm still dreaming. Stay positive. It's the only way to be.

    Please don't feel over looked
We are all here with you, for the last few days I'v been able to post alot, but tomorrow I'll be going back to work, which means less time on the computer, but that doesn't mean that I don't read. Like pammy said sometimes you'll get 5 responses back and other times you'll get 25, it just depends on the day and the topic.

Please stay positive, for as long as you can, sounds like tonight you might be alittle down, and that's what causing the lack of sleep, just remember we're here when you need to talk, and when you need a boost too.

take care and Welcome to the site, this really is a great group people to have as friends especially as time goes by in your treatment.

    God Bless

    There's no such thing!
You can't ever be too positive. You can be in denial, you can be depressed, there are a million things you can be, but I don't think "too positive" is one of them!!!

One of the things I've learned here on this board is never to take things personally, esp. when it takes awhile for someone to respond to posts. There's just a sort of ebb and flow to this place, but NO ONE gets ignored!

As for sleep problems, my dr. gave me a prescription for generic Xanax, and I took just half the suggested dose and it worked great -- I slept better than I had in years and never had trouble getting up or feeling weird in the morning. You might consider talking to your doc????

Stay positive...it helps the whole process both physically and mentally. But also don't worry if you break down once in awhile. It's all "normal" here ;-)

    You are so wise
Jojo, during chemo I was told "how strong I was" because I just barreled through and did the "glad game." I made it through most of rads too. I did not want to take on the role of being needy. I hated that I had "lost control." Then I imploded. It's taken almost a year since then to get to a "new normal." This board has helped me so much. I have fallen apart in front of everyone here, and I have not felt rejected (though sometimes scolded.)

I just noticed a post from Claudia about sleep patterns being changed for many of us. I don't remember reading about this here, but it so resonates. All my life I have been a night owl. Notice the time on this post? I couldn't even stay awake for the end of Rocky Horror Picture Show! But the birds just started chirping and soon I will be out in my garden in the cool of early day. So many changes, so much to learn....xoxoxo Lynn

I think sometimes we try to
I think sometimes we try to just put up a front, that we are doing ok. We don't want to worry our loved ones, so, we pretend we are fine. But, eventually, we drop it and need to ask for help. And, there is nothing wrong with that.

We can't be strong all of the time!
