edited March 2014 in Ovarian Cancer #1
I knew Laura as we were both treated at Kaiser in Portland, Oregon. She is the one that told me about CSN. I received this e-mail from her husband and wish to share it with the board. I know she had lots of friends on the board.

"I lost my wife, Laura Harkins, to ovarian cancer on June 14, 2009. Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect, until its later stages. Laura fought hard for the better part of a year with surgery, chemo therapy, and many visits to the hospital. It was a difficult and painful battle that in the end she couldn’t win. Laura died at the age of 44 leaving family, friends, children, and grand children.

No one should have to suffer the way Laura suffered, and the way millions of other cancer patients are suffering every day. The American Cancer Society is the second largest contributor to cancer research, next to the federal government. Please visit my ACS Relay For Life page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/dave.harkins and make a donation to help battle this ugly disease. I realize times are tough, any size donation would be greatly appreciated.

By supporting our Relay For Life team, you are joining a worldwide movement to help defeat cancer for future generations.

Sincerely;

Dave Harkins"

(((HUG))) to us all as we fight on.....

    MY CONDOLENCES
    Joan,

    Thank you for sharing the sad news. My deepest sympathy to Dave, their children, grandchildren, family and friends. I will pray that they find some peace in knowing that their lovely wife and mother is complete and healed. And though she can't be with them, I hope that in time they will be able to reflect on the wonderful memories and legacy that she has left behind.

    My prayers continue, as always, for a cure.

    Hugs to everyone.
